This list seems to work fine for now. You can post to it by sending a
message to:
The name will change in the future.
Let me make clear again that this list is not for discussions. It is for
announcing team activity, bringing out ideas for new activities and teams,
reporting results, and for overall administrative stuff.
The idea is that the main activity will happen in teams. A team will be a
group of people that are either working on a particular task or agreeing to
discuss a certain subject. This might happen over a mailing list, if one is
available, or the members might simply copy each other on each message.
Anybody can suggest or start a team and decide what it should do. The team
also decides if it is open to anybody or if it is a more closed group or it
has special requirements. In either case, only people who want to be in the
group will be. Those who don't won't.
There will be some people who will offer their assistance in facilitating
making teams work well as teams. Also, the TeamWork team is working on some
suggested guidelines in that regard.
There are a lot of things that there isn't yet a team for. Gradually we
will cover the spectrum of what you all are interested in.
These are some current team activities that I am aware of:
The TeamWork Team has been quite active, mostly in clarifying what its task
is and how to go about it.
The Energy Team has started to discuss possibilities in solar cell production.
There is now a Creativity Group. Keith Hudson <k.hudson@bbcnc.org.uk> is
the contact person for that. It is starting off with the possibilities in
Arthur Koestler's bisociation principle.
The PersonCo group has been discussing what a new civilization person is.
Bob Gebelein <bobgeb@pasiphae.coat.com> is the contact person there.
An Alternative Money System group has started discussing ideas for a money
system better supporting creativity and production of value.
Any of these teams are open to whomever is interested.
The New Civilization Encino E-mail Crew existed before NCN. It carries
updates and discussion on the New Civilization Model One project. Leon
Vickman <71210.177@compuserve.com> is in charge of that.
Del Wilson <WilsonDL@aol.com> and others are working on the World Knowledge
Network, an idea of a network for sharing knowledge between great minds on
the planet.
Jim Bonaparte <COSMOS279@aol.com> provides COSMOS mailings on education and
environment.
The possibility of more automated mailing lists has become available, so
probably the busiest teams will be put on mailing lists shortly, to make
them easier to deal with.
If you have just a little bit of artistic ability and you would like to
propose a logo for the New Civilization Network, send your entry attached
to a message to:
newciv@netcom.com
with subject "put NCN-logo"
Also I should mention that there are of course organizations or groups that
members here run that have a life outside of here, but that we would
consider more or less affiliated:
- Basic Choices, Washington. <johliger@facstaff.wisc.edu>
- Society of Independent Learners, Massachusetts. <HARVEST279@aol.com>
- College of Synthallogical Management and Omnicomprehensive Studies,
Massachusetts. <COSMOS279@aol.com>

- The Venus Project, Florida. <venus@gate.net>
I hope to be able to say more on each later, and maybe provide World Wide
Web pages for those who want it and don't have it.
For those of you who can access the Web, there is an NCN page at:
http://www.protree.com/worldtrans/newcivnet.html
I hope we can put a lot of stuff there to give an overview of what is going
on, and later to provide an alternative way of accessing messages, joining
groups and so forth.
There is also a mailbot (a program that will automatically answer messages)
that will provide a few pieces of information back to you in e-mail:
You can send a message to:
with one of these statements in the SUBJECT line:
get ncn-members
get ncn-teams
get ncn-charter
get ncn-info
to get either: a list of members, list of teams, the initial "charter"
message, or a message with general info.
Finally, here is a current list of members broken down by geographical
location. Let me know where you are if you aren't on the list.
