Some of you have already gotten an automatic message with an ID and
Password that will get you into the member's only area of the NCN web page
at http://www.newciv.org/worldtrans/newcivnet.html.
Most of you haven't gotten it yet.
I first need to figure out how to send out 260 different messages without
my program crashing. So, it might mean that you get several copies of the
same message.
Anyway, once you have the ID and Password, you can then enter the "Member
Lounge" area.
There is not a lot you can do there yet, but more services will be added
along the way. At this point you can do these things:
- Update your own member information, such as your interests, your address,
your web page, etc. Some of this will be available to other members, some
of it will not if you designate that it shouldn't be.
- Get a listing of other members, in different kinds of sorting order.
- Enter a chat area where you can interact with others through web forms.
It is the same chat area that is publicly available from the main page.
However, if you enter from the member lounge it will automatically fill in
your name and your picture, if any is on file for you.
In the future there will be more features for searching through the member
list on different key words, or by geographic area, or other ways of
presenting it.
Any of you who would like to supply a picture of yourself, that would be
very welcome, as a way of getting to know each other better. If you have it
already on the web somewhere, just enter the link in the your member
profile. If not, send me either a file in e-mail, or a photo in snail mail
and I'll get it scanned in and made available. My address is: Flemming

obligation to do this, if you prefer to remain more invisible.
Oh, about the passwords you get, please change them to something less
obvious when you get around to accessing the web page with your profile.
For those of you who don't have web access, I will at some point add a way
of receiving your profile by e-mail.
