You can now find a list of some of the most significant mailing lists in NCN at:
http://www.worldtrans.org/ncn/ncnlists.html
You are receiving this message on the mailing list, but there are others.
Some of them are busy, some of them are active from time to time, but
currently inactive.
What is new is that there are now web archives of mosts of the lists. That
is, you can read the past messages from a web page, in case you joined the
list only recently, or you want to see what happened historically on it.
For example, you can see every message ever posted on this main NCN list.
There are a couple of more lists I will be putting up archives for. I will
only put up archives for the lists that are open to all NCN members. There
are some lists that are more private, for specific projects or more
intimate groups.
I will also be putting up information on other mailing lists that are
related in some fashion to NCN, or that are housed on the newciv.org
server, or that some of you are hosting.
The archives are only for use by NCN members. They will not be accessible
through web search engines or anything like that. Also, the link above will
change soon and the access will be through the "Member Lounge" area from
the main NCN page at: http://www.newciv.org/worldtrans/newcivnet.html. So
please don't create links to the page from other web areas.
For those of you who have no clue what I'm talking about, a "mailing list"
is a discussion group, or a distribution method for messages, where one
sends an e-mail message to one central address and the message gets sent
out to everybody who's "subscribed" to that mailing list.
