Subject: NCN-ESP STUDY; The Math
Well, I promised the math on the card-picking experiment, so here it
is.
If you call it "chance," then there is a probability of 1 in 52 of
picking the right card, and 51/52 of picking the wrong card.
By "chance" then, in 10 trials the probability of getting 0 right would
be about 82%, the probability of getting 1 right would be about 16%,
and the probability of getting 2 or more right would be about 1.5%.
(These numbers don't add up to 100% because of round-off errors.)
So in the first round, the chances of getting 2 out of 10 (or better)
would be about 1.5%.
In the second round, the chances of getting 5 out of 78 (or better)
would be about 1.7%.
As a total, the chances of getting 7 out of 88 (or better) would be
about 0.16%.
A probability of less than 5% is taken to be "statistically significant"
in most experiments, and if you really want to be fussy, you can insist
on a probability of less than 0.01%. Right now we are well beyond
"statistically significant" and headed toward the "fussy" mark.
And results are CUMULATIVE. If we do 10 experiments, all with a
probability of about 1.5% of getting those results by "chance," our
total result will be something like .015 to the 10th power, which
would take it beyond all reasonable requirements for "statistically
significant."
So I hope that we might have a few more tests by people who feel they
have abilities in this area (not me -- I'll just do the math).

Just wanted to let you know that the latest issue of INNER JUNGLE
ADVENTURES is posted, and I think it is a very important one, so I want
you to see it and pass it along...it concerns developing one's Mission
in life. I am working with a video company on turning out a 3 part
series for educators on facilitating a sense of mission in youth as part
of the school curriculum (people acknowledge it's importatant, but no
one shows you HOW. Latest IJA is posted at:
http://wolfcrk.com/ijahome.htm#newsletter
I also want you to know, in this light, that I have created a donated
web page for kids under 18 to post their mission statement for all the
world to see. I hope this will encourage them to think about DIRECTION
in their lives. The address for that page is:
http://wolfcrk.com/youthmission.htm
Appreciate you passing this along. . .especially to the kids or any
sites that might have younger readers.
I feel strongly about the positive power of having an operative Life
Mission to "cure a lot of our ills" these days.
