WHO AND WHAT ARE WE?
The New Civilization Network has existed for a few years now. It has at
times been buzzing with inspiring activitity, at times it has been asleep,
at times it has been in conflict. But I am not sure we've gotten very clear
on what it really IS, or what it is supposed to be.
So, instead of me or somebody else preaching about what it ought to be, I
suggest we take a few moments and examine in greater detail what the make
up of this group is. What I am talking about is essentially a survey. A
survey of who you are, what you believe in, what you need, what you want to
do, what you want to happen.
Yes, I know that all of your bios talk about who you are and what you're
interested in. That shows us all to be quite interesting and noble folks,
and it probably helps an assortment of personal liasons to form. But it
doesn't give us much of a whole picture. It doesn't help us terribly much
in defining ourselves as a group.
Rather than me just constructing a survey out of the blue, I'd like to
first invite input from those of you who have thoughts about HOW we might
measure the breadth and depth and qualities of NCN. I.e. I would like some
well thought out suggestions for what kinds of questions I should ask all
of you, in order for all of us together to increase our awareness of who
and what we are, and in order for each of us individually to know exactly
where and how we might fit in.
This has come up as a suggested project before, but for various reasons
didn't get off the ground. So, I suggest moving quickly on it, to ensure
that it goes somewhere. So, if you have questions you think should be
asked, or you want to be part of the implementation and tabulation of this
survey, contact me.
I imagine it implemented as an online survey that any of you can go and
fill out, and that can be filled out when people join, or, alternatively,
it can be filled in by e-mail. And I hope it can become a dynamic function
of continued use in assessing where we're at.
