One of my central inspirations for starting the New Civilization Network 6 years ago was the work of Jessica Lipnack and Jeffrey Stamps. They're sort of networking gurus, having written and talked extensively about the power of networked organizations, particularly inter-connected networks of teams, which they coined the term TeamNet for. I hoped for NCN to become a TeamNet. Anyway, because of the increased necessity for dialogue and good networking in the world, they've decided to make all their books available online for free. They are "The Networking Book", "The Age of the Network", "The TeamNet Factor" and "Virtual Teams". I very much applaud this. You can find the books at [link]

Subject: Our books now online and free in response to 9/11
Dear Friend of NetAge and virtualteams.com,
Like the rest of the world, we have been drawn into the vortex of horror at the attack on September 11. Blessings and prayers for all those you love and know who have been so affected by this atrocity--and those affected by the military action that began on October 7.
As we all move to act and respond as best we can, we encounter one inescapable fact: Our need to work together at a distance and across boundaries has been powerfully accelerated by the atrocity. Air travel has shrunk instantly and will never be the same as all modes of mass transportation become more costly, time-consuming, and hassled -- to say nothing of people's fear of flying and the fears of their families. Companies, governments, and nonprofits need to do more with less "face time;" and the already significant trend to multi-site and distributed organization will dramatically increase.
You are probably already thinking about how to work with other people in new ways. We've spent the last 20 years figuring out how to make it easier to work at a distance. To help you think about and organize for working virtually, we are making our knowledge as widely available as possible right now by offering our five most recent books free online.

We hope this is helpful.
