"So do I accept the mass extermination of the human herd and shuffle off quietly to the dissenter camp — Camp Ashcroft, I like to call it. In most times these opponents of the herd program would be rehabilitated, retrained, as Orwell suggested in 1984. But now the herd is so big that all these camps have no facilities, no purpose except as secure extermination facilities. Maybe the answer to the fuel problem, ey? Maybe Soylent Green." -- J. Kaminsky

Man on a fence
By John Kaminski – May 11, 2006 skylax@comcast.net

The legendary Greek hero Leonidas held a pass and fended off thousands of Persian invaders with only 13 men (before being wiped out, of course). But the impossible maneuver won the war, and Greece stayed free, at least for that one brief historical moment about twenty five hundred years ago.

So now today, here's our intrepid hero, who occasionally fancies himself that Greek sentinel, sitting uncomfortably on top of a white picket fence, as he watches that fence begin to burn at its base. In fact, the entire fence is engulfed in flame, turning a sickening wrinkled black at the bottom as it creeps upwards to exactly where he is sitting.

He not only knows it's only a matter of time before the inevitable question confronts all living things. But now he also knows that that time is right now, for him, and for everyone else as well.

As the numbers of homeless radically increase on the streets of America and the white train cars get ready to roll from American military facilities, the time to decide is now. It always is.

But decide what, you may ask?

His choice, as he ponders the flames flicker closer to his feet, is either — sound the alarm or go back to sleep? Protest against something he appears not to be able to stop, or simply kick back and live his life as best he can, and let the bleeding people he chooses not to look at it fall dead in their tracks wherever they happen to be?

To aspire, or to expire? Ah, that is the question. When you give up hoping, the process of decay and death accelerates. An essential vitality is lost, and this is true in all living things. The imprint of this concession is now visible in almost all areas of human endeavour. A tedious weariness. A lethargic unwillingness to fight for one’s own survival.

The point the man on the fence has been trying to make is simply not seen by most people — not wanted. It impinges on personal privacy paradigms. They want things that make them healthy, and talking about the issues he has been talking about can make you suddenly unhealthy, or suddenly dead.

But then, so does not talking about them.

The question he asks politely as he watches the spreading fire inch closer to his toenails — is something wrong with this picture? Or is this just the story of humanity playing out perpetually, Romans slaughtering Gauls, Vikings burning England, Columbus cutting off the hands of the Taino, and that boy from Poughkeepsie putting a bullet in the head of an Iraqi woman he had just raped?

What is wrong with the picture if this is exactly the way humanity appears to have proceeded throughout its long and destructive history? You can't change the way things are. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the old saw sings.

Personally, I never liked that tune that much.

So do I accept the mass extermination of the human herd and shuffle off quietly to the dissenter camp — Camp Ashcroft, I like to call it. In most times these opponents of the herd program would be rehabilitated, retrained, as Orwell suggested in 1984. But now the herd is so big that all these camps have no facilities, no purpose except as secure extermination facilities. Maybe the answer to the fuel problem, ey? Maybe Soylent Green.

The policies that have been put in place at Guantanamo and throughout the depraved American gulag now spread all over the world are now being used on the American population.

Consider the operating principles in your mind: the truth doesn’t matter, nobody’s innocent, and anyone can be killed if they don’t play along. That’s the deal. You read about it every day in the newspapers.

Already, the spigots of society have been turned down to a trickle, and many will die of thirst. Even those who have filled their canteens well will feel the drought, as the people of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and so many other places have felt this same sad stark drought for centuries.

Yet some would say this is precisely the pressure created by overpopulation. Meanwhile, they're eating pygmies in Africa, and two million people LIVE in the landfills of Rio de Janeiro, not far from the posh hotels where you play.

The man on the fence rises up and cries out, “Should we try to fix this or just accept it as it is?”

The problem with waiting this long is that the fire is much more difficult to put out, especially since most people don't even believe there actually IS a fire. It simply hasn't occurred to them. Or, they continue to refuse to let the information in. They won’t hear the alarms being sounded in cyberspace, on TV and in front of their own
eyes.

And what information is that? you may ask.

The Jewish tradition teaches that you are entitled to seek revenge. Is that a good thing or not? And what has it done to our world?

The Christian tradition teaches us to turn the other cheek. And what has that accomplished, except to create a population of more willing slaves?

The tradition of Muhammad (PBUH) espouses a family of humans each of whom has a direct line to God with no intermediary translators necessary, easily the best deal among the monotheistic religions.

The ordinary common sense of an average nonspiritual but honest man can clearly see that all humans are criminals who naturally do what’s best for themselves.

What is it you hoped to be? How much are you willing to learn? As the fire crackles toward where you’re sitting, and your toenails start to curl from the heat, the money runs out, your home is flooded out and geeks in black masks patrol your neighborhood, what are you going to do ... ?

The man on the fence asks himself this question, as the flames lick higher.

John Kaminski is a writer who lives on the Gulf Coast of Florida whose essays have been seen on hundreds of websites around the world. He is also one of the most censored writers on the Internet, because he dares to say what many believe but are afraid to say themselves. This part has always stuck in my head.. The right to revolt - Prudence, indeed, will dictate, that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms, to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses & usurpations pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such government and to provide new guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies, and such is now the necessity, which constrains them to alter their former systems of government.

Every one of us who recognizes ourself 'on the fence' needs to jump off and quickly; at the very least, to put out the flames around our own feet, whatever form they are taking right now, attempting to extinguish all we cherish. In my case - I rather like Jefferson's first draft.. We hold these truths to be self-evident *sacred and undeniable* that all men are created equal *and independent* that they are endowed by their creator with inherent & inalienable rights; that among these are *the preservation of* life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness. Well, it does not say we have a right to happiness, only the right to pursue it.. OK, start running!
And this, his original closing statement, also altered, "And for the support of this Declaration we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." Wow! I mean, 'WOW!!' Our lives, fortunes and sacred honor? Yes, all of it for freedom from tyranny in any form!

What's happened to this 'all for one and one for all' consciousness? It needs to remember itself. Time for a new Declaration, or at the very least, a revitalization of the original. Ben Franklin said anyone who gives up their freedoms for security deserves to lose both. That's exactly what's happening to us here and now.

What current events tell me is we are giving up our rights, and lefts, and middles, having bought into fear programming and feelings of hopelessness/helplessness, turning our sovereignty over to the very people who will extinguish us without hesitation if we do not follow their demands. How often I've heard people say, 'yes but, I feel much safer now with the added security.' Pure horseshit!! I am so appalled by our government these days that I know not where to begin except perhaps by cleaning out my closets and then sweeping onward and outward from there.

But first I must get a very large fire extinguisher.

====================================================

Heidi san that was a real treat to read. Written very beautifully...
Thanks, so much, for reading this. Your 'Fire Dept.' should be able to get you a good deal on that fire extinguisher. ;)

=======================================================

Yes, but will they help me put out the fire?

I always read, just rarely comment. This one moved me. ;)

One other thing I noticed in Jefferson's words is the use of the word 'sacred'. He uses it quite a bit. What does it mean to us? What do we hold sacred? from Latin, sacrum, "sacrifice"..

Adelaide: 1967: In a bar, I 17 yrs of age going on 35. The Double doors of the bar crashed open and in stormed five returned servicemen straight from Vietnam. Local lads they were. They stopped dead in their tracks, I watched as one of the muster scoped his eyeballs around the room. Something snapped in all of these guys. They started screaming out obscenities "You pack of !@#$%^ you don’t have a clue you lazy useless!@#$%" etc etc. They wrecked that bar within five minutes. What was the catalyst? A few of us had long hair! We were marked men, dished out the black spot, because we appeared different, because we hadn’t been part of, because we hadn’t been drafted or joined in, or what ever other valid sane reason these guys had, the oldest of which was 23.
Those events are emblazoned on some memory bank within the gray matter.

Six years ago we celebrated the life of a fellow brother on his passing. He died at age 86, cancer got him rather quickly. "Its only a spot on side of my forehead" he avoided using the term Temple. Only with days left to live I asked him " Have you found the answer to this thing called life?” Jack had traveled the world he was educated, He had a far greater level of understanding of life the universe and everything. A very human being. His reply, " no haven’t got any answers yet, no doubt they will come to me as I draw my last breath".

.

25million people have died from Aids.

I can’t quantify the trillions of souls lost in warfare.

I can’t quantify the trillions of souls lost in warfare.

If it wasn’t for the vacuum of space I am sure the collective wail of humankind might reach The Great Architects auditory centers, what conclusion might be drawn I can only surmise. Could it be?. "Forgive them for they know not what they are doing".

Walk a mile in someone else's shoes before. Pulling the trigger... Pressing the button. Pulling the chord. Drawing the sword..

27 May 2006 @ 01:48 by jobrown : The only Antidot i know of....
....is in the willingness to a higher consciousness. Each person has to say yes to choose it for themselves, though... the proverbial drinking for the Horse -thing, you know, eh?... *!*.. Anyhooo. We all act and behave according to our own energy/ frequency ("consciousness")and today in the Mainstream we call it 'Psychology'. All 'religion' is Psychology (of the Old Times) observed, then written down as a dogma -or Spiritual Insights/Scripts. Indeed, every religion has all the different frequencies expressed in written form. Still today we all functionin perfect accordance to this Cosmic truth-reality: our own psychology!

What today is called Higher Consciousness has now -finally- been written down down by Someone (-I don't know by whom though I will work on finding out and share the source with you all ASAP-) as well. I have not found anything that better would express what the NEW way responding to Life is all about than this.
This -following text, is my "Bible" by which I adjust my life daily, to hone my Response Ability ever more, incrementally, a little better for each passing day -hopefully! : ) This is my NorthStar;
Call to Planetary Stewardship

The Earth Council is being formed to include planetary membership of all women, men, and children who want to honor the Earth by living in harmony with each other and all of creation.

When you become a member of the Earth Council, you step up into your role of steward of the planet. You take responsibility for your actions and declare your willingness to work with others for the highest good of all life on the planet. You declare your willingness to share your ideas, thoughts, labor, prayers, and resources in this effort.

You declare that you are willing to listen to others with respect, to relinquish all positions or considerations that some beings are higher than others and other begins are lower than others.

You declare that you are willing to change your ideas in order to change what is happening on the planet.

You declare that you are willing to cooperate with others to bring in equality, liberty, and goodwill for all people and life on the planet.

You acknowledge the Earth as a being with four bodies like yours: physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental, and that these bodies need to be healed, cared for, and balanced like your own.

You acknowledge that you are one of the aspects of this planetary being, as are all other people, elements, animals, fish, insects, plants, trees, rivers, mountains, seas, and land. You commit yourself to a process of bringing harmony and balance to the Earth, of loving, honoring, and cherishing all life and the creative force that imbues all life in the cosmos and in all dimensions.

You renounce all wars and killing of other people, including executions by governments. You renounce the use of torture and all forms of coercion and the use of force to control others and cause suffering. You renounce the use of weapons that destroy life. You no longer cooperate with people in positions of authority who force others to comply with their edicts when it is obvious that they are not serving the highest good of all. You no longer support governments that destroy life.

You embrace the credo, "Honor the Earth. Honor the Life force. Honor all creation." You accept your role as steward of the planet.

When you agree to take personal responsibility for stewardship of the planet, you will then become a member of the Earth Council and you will henceforward be called an Earth Counselor.

Earth Counselor are the meek who will inherit the Earth. Earth Counselors are lovers: lovers of peace, lovers of harmony, lovers of truth, lovers of all people and all forms of life. The planet and the future of humanity needs your commitment. Are you willing to step up on her Behalf?

28 May 2006 @ 21:36 by jerryvest : Rah!!! Blueboy this commitment to
preserve our planet's resources and respect and love her as we do our human mother is so necessary. Let's all step up, make this commitment and invite everyone to join the Earth Council -- no time like the Present to bring some sanity to our serious predicament.

29 May 2006 @ 17:42 by jobrown : Alright, Jerry,
now we're at least three!....: ) "When/where two or more gather...... I shall be too" Not to forget: "What two or more ask in my Name......" Powerful Stuff!
