Here's an article by Dan Winter about the potential dangers of some proposed free energy devices. Although I don't get all his math, it does make sense. Of course the energy comes from somewhere, and it could be catastrophic to be blind to that. That's the same mistake as when we previously assumed we could just pump oil out of the ground and release waste gasses into the air without any consequences. Just because we might switch over to scalar energy, we still can't ignore where it actually comes from and how it ought to be replenished. More >

According to this story, Cuban scientists are indicating that the many structures found at a depth of 2000 feet in a certain area are unlikely to be natural, and they're planning submarine explorations. If it is is a sunken city, it would be at least 6000 years old. More >

Below is a message from Steven Greer of the Disclosure Project about the black projects in the U.S. funded to the tune of around $100 billion per year, focusing on many activities that officially are ridiculed, such as extra-terrestrial propulsion systems and free energy devices. Nothing particularly new there, but I think it is an important project - to try to pressure the U.S. government into pulling these projects out into the open. Sure, the U.S. government don't really control them, but they would be the closest to make this change. More >

Dennis Kucinich seems to be one of the few sane individuals in the U.S. Congress, and I'd say it is important for at least the people in the U.S. to watch the moves he makes.
Below is a message which Jean Houston forwarded to me, which is Representative Kucinich's call for nuclear disarmament and a proposed bill to create a Department of Peace in the United States. It is important reading.

AP: A full-size fully functional virtual keyboard that can be projected and touched on any surface is shown by Siemens Procurement Logistics Services at the CeBIT fair in Hanover, northern Germany, on Monday, March 18, 2002. The virtual interface from Developer VKB Inc. from Jerusalem in Israel can be integrated in mobile phones, laptops, tablet PCs, or clean, sterile and medical environments and could be a revolution for the data entry of any mini computer. The mini projector that detects user interaction with the surface also simulates a mousepad. The biggest computer fair of the world is open for public until Wednesday, March 20, 2002. More >

Scottish company Ocean Power Delivery has developed a sectional-torpedo-looking-thing as a means to transform the raw fury of the sea into electricity! They just secured a 8.6m (usd) in funding to continue research and build a large scale prototype. The company has won a contract to produce a 750kw "plant" off of the scottish coast and might be doing a 2Mw project off of the coast of Vancouver Island in Canada. More >

It is interesting how different environments inspire different kinds of things to go on in them. Now, I'm particularly thinking about that in terms of online programs. Like, this News Log program is structured so that when one posts something it is a bit of an event. That is, one has an article or a poem or something, or at least a link to it somewhere else. And one posts it and everybody notices it, and a bunch of people comment on it, etc.
You know, that is contrasted to an environment where it makes more sense to post many little items. I'm comparing with some of the other programs in the class that the News Log program is in: Web Log programs. Logs made with tools by Userland or Blogger are more suited to mentioning many little tidbits that one might be interested in during the day, without any of them having to be any very big item. My friend Palden Jenkins forwarded me the following article from the UK Observer, along with his comments on 2/20... but it is as timely as the increasingly serious political situation of the world continues to warrant! Palden is a very good metaphysical historian! More >

I'm excited about the possibilities in syndication of web content through open web standards. In part because I have a vision of creating better wiring for the global brain, and this stuff fits right in there.
In short, there are simple wide-spread protocols that make it possible for different websites to pick up content from each other, and to contribute to news feeds of various kinds.
In part what is cool is that the most workable schemes have been developed by small groups of creative people and have been adopted on a grassroots basis. More >
