On the cover he wrote: "There in Spain, I was dumb and breathless. The cathedral was home to many clamorous birds. It does not follow: If the birds nor the spires are neither vital nor inessential, Then beauty is not a thing. Each note shining in tandem With other shining players, as in: An orchestra, an audience, a headache, a star, etc., etc. I find no right to life in the presence of utter beauty. I escape to empty washrooms and throw water on pale faces… Speak soothing sounds to faces in mirrors. I gather myself and forget, that Infinite beauty is conflagrant death.
