Last night I briefly caught some of Bush's acceptance speech. What caught my attention was the way in which he attempted to associate himself with the heroes of 9/11. But overall what struck me was the stridency and the degree of divisiveness which I saw. Listenning to what little I did of the Republican convention, it struck me just how much the level of polarity has increased in our present day. It once again dramatizes to me that the pace of change in our world is quickening, and we have reached a key crossroads in history. Read More

1 Sep 2004 @ 15:44, by craiglang. Articles
The last week or two has been one of continually being on the go. There is so much to do, so many things to get done, so many events to attend, and so many things on the calendar. In the last week, I have also noted a number of very synchronistic references to the idea of "being" vs "doing". At the National Guild of Hypnotists conference two weeks ago, one of the speakers made the comment that we should really be called "human-doings" rather than "human-beings", because we are all so busy and so focused on what we are doing. When I look at my date book, I again realize just how right she was. Read More

This is the (very) rough draft of an article I am writing for a UFO or paranormal publication, somewhere - not sure where, yet.
I am putting it out here for comments, etc...

Today has been one of those rather non-spiritual days - one of those times in life when we realize that, even though we are spirits living in the material world, it is a material world that can be rather trying. I truly think that today was one of those "material moments". Read More

Some observations from a weekend of hiking, climbing, and other activities. We attended a gathering at the fiftieth anniversary reunion of Minnesota Rovers Outing Club, a varied assortment of outdoors enthusiasts.
For me, it was a great way to take my mind off of the coming perils at the day job (see my previous post). It was also a way to relive past days as a climber and general physical adventurer.
Ten years ago, I was a very avid climber/mountaineer. Then came grad school, and vertical rock faded from my life, to be replaced by school books, house payments and an expanding waistline. But now this weekend left me asking the question, in what ways can one retrieve parts of the joys, simplicity and adventure of the past in a way that is part of the present? Read More

To see beyond, look within. To see above look below. To see the large view the small, and to see the many look at the few.
Some thoughts on the changes upon us, and how they are indeed in progress: Both large and small, pivotal events seem to be manifesting in our personal experiences, as they are in the events of the world.
My own sense is that in many important ways, they are one and the same. As within, so without. Changes in the large and changes in the small mirror eachother. Read More

How Would Jesus Vote?
What would the politics of Jeshua Ben Yusef be, if He walked the Earth today? My short answer is that we probably don't know. But it would probably be something very different from what anyone would expect.
I'm writing this article for our church newsletter. I think it has alot to say to those on both the right and the left, who tell me they are "followng Jesus".

20 Jul 2004 @ 21:30, by craiglang. Opinions
I discovered a rather disappointing thing today, as I got to my car at the end of the workday. A couple of months earlier, I had placed some new bumper stickers on the back of my car: One expressing environmental thoughts, and one with an American flag, and the words "Peace is Patriotic". When I came out to the parking lot after work today, I noticed that some turkey had ripped off the Peace bumper sticker. Read More

Saw this on CNN.com. This is really spooky, folks...
"Officials discuss how to delay Election Day"
I have always thought that this upcoming election will be the survival test for what's left of democracy in the USA. Regardless of the results, the election must be clean. If this election is not squeaky clean then we really are in deep trouble.
And now this comes out. What next?
