Born-again black conservative Star Parker puts her political faith on the line in no uncertain terms. Liberal Democrats are pimps, she says, who use black political leaders as whores to seduce black voters into supporting welfare and other policies that have produced a passel of welfare brats (black and white)--permanent dependents on government handouts.
It was Star's no-excuses attitude of self-empowerment that firmly positioned her on the fast track of conservative politics, speaking out against welfare as the cause of urban America's moral and economic decline---emphasizing personal initiative and responsibility, she walks readers toward releasing the hold poverty has over their lives.
Guided by her faith, Star has broken the "code of silence" among blacks to speak out on:
- Affirmative action: "What we haven't told our people is that they can start their own businesses. Entrepreneurship works for everybody."
- Equal opportunity: "Capitalism doesn't have any racial boundaries."
- The death penalty: "How many murders do we have to read about before we get serious?"
- Black rage: "Blacks cannot cry racism every time something doesn't go their way."
- The Los Angeles riots: "After three decades of handouts...they had evolved into a group of government-dependent, out-of-control, racist monsters."
- Liberalism: "White liberals are afraid. That monster they created in their socialist lab has gone crazy on them....Their liberalism has backfired."
Speaking her mind and taking control of her life, Star Parker has forged a bright future. And while she'll always stir up controversy, there's no disputing that her rise from public assistance to public
This book calls it like it is, and it places blame where it belongs, on big government and its little mouth pieces who call themselves activists. There is hope for the poor and this book, just like The Secret, is a great start for answers. Thanks Ms. Parker you're a real "Star".
