Heres a comment I made to the local paper
In the interests of clarity I did not see Mr. Neimans article about immature democracy being about
either party. It seems one can leap to that conclusion if one is predisposed and labels oneself one or
the other, which I suppose is a choice but in my mind a narrow and unwise one or one can go beyond the lense of partisanship and look at the issues themselves or one can also too do as I sense Mr. Neiman was attempting to do and look at the big picture of the democratic process as a whole and which I commend his fine attempt to do so. .
Who are we thus to muddy the waters and clarity of this attempt with partizan bickering and division which does nothing to address the issues at hand and the issue at hand, I see as not any particular party or a particular governance matter or specific issue even but rather the reform or progression of the entire Alberta Democratic Process and System.
To support this contention I direct you to his assertions that the current system is lacking and that we have to go beyond it
towards what he introduced as proportional representation. This is a valid point and departure needed, I sense as well , ie that our current system is perhaps not the emotionally laden "immature" (we forgive Mr Neiman you are a news editor after all) but a less emotionally charged term would have been "inadequate". Same dif I suppose but besides the point and topic rather as to whether your reference to going to a system of proportional representation is the answer it is difficult to say as it is a more complex or mature system true, that attempts to improve the democratic process by addressing the various diversities of a healthy and just society. Yet no easy or simple form of it has really been achieved as far as Im aware and it requires as well a general electorate of a more sophisticated and educated nature. I myself must admit some ignorance of it as it seems to require more than just the simple casting of a vote and voters have to have a better and clearer understanding of the issues of the day and workings and meanderings of the whole governance and electoral system and process. One which I for one at times find very confusing and intimidating. But since it has been brought up educate and grace us perhaps with an additional editorial on "Understanding Proportional representation for the masses" . Ah but I see Ive babbled on here beyond even my own attention span and will respectfully dismiss myself. More >

hmmm I just did the math looks bad
if you took the 600000000 million cars on the planet and built them all as one vehicle
just the diameter of the exhaust pipe would be 18,000 miles wide.....
that can't be right can it? I better double check that....
thats scary.....
dart it came out as 19000 miles

Probablities and Vectors
Sometimes in the face of the unknown and uncertainties and confusion
one can only attempt to calculate some sort of probabilities and determine
or assess if they have a vector of some sort in order thus to decipher some ground
of understanding and or meaning.
