James in the New Testament alluded to a faith being dead if it has no works
but Luther said we are saved by Faith alone and not works
and yet perhaps it is not work itself that is the operative word perhaps
but "right works".
So a dead faith may have works but not the right ones
or faith itself with out right works is somewhat moot.

R. T. Kendall has an incisive observation about the James 2 passage that makes a very relevant conclusion. He writes:
What startles me is the number of people who insist that one must have works to show he is saved but who themselves have virtually nothing of the very works James has in mind! They wish to use James as a basis of “assurance by works” but not the kind of works James has in mind—caring for the poor. I have yet to meet the first person who holds (or preaches) that giving another “those things which are needful to their body” must follow faith to show that it is saving faith indeed. We prefer to be selective in our use of James.[1]
We who hold firmly to the truth that faith alone brings justification without works of any sort must not be guilty of Kendall’s criticism. Let us lead the way in good works flowing from love and the power of the Spirit. Let us energize our faith to its fullest.
Well not sure if others have picked up on this but there seems to be some points in history and the globalization of the planet where there is a kind of divergence taking place. Now what it consists of some speculate it to involve income, others democracy and others well what have you. Yet I don't sense that is not the whole picture.
It may be a masculine feminine divergence or and interest or subject divergence where you have a global reality but it takes on different qualities.
This split or divergence seems to be rooted in about 1400 AD or so with the inhabitation of the the New World and as the world has globalized we see it occuring or expanding. It is though not clear upon which lines or form it occurs around. Not race or such or money but it would seem to have a different basis or mean of divergence.
anyway
just thought it was an interesting observation from my book of life studies.
Maybe it is the divergence though subtle of the human species?
Those who used the Nine Rings became mighty in their day... They obtained glory and great wealth, yet it turned to their undoing. (...) They could walk, if they would, unseen by all eyes in this world beneath the sun, and they could see things in worlds invisible to mortal men; but too often they beheld only the phantoms and delusions of Sauron. And one by one, sooner or later, according to their native strength and to the good or evil of their wills in the beginning, they fell under the thralldom of the ring that they bore...

An introduction to the science and art of perception management.
The phrase "perception management" is filtering into common use as a synonym for "persuasion." Public relations firms now offer "perception management" as one of their services. Similarly, public officials who are being accused of shading the truth are now frequently charged with engaging in "perception management" when disseminating information to media or to the general public.
Although perception management operations are typically carried out within the international arena between governments, and between governments and citizens, use of perception management techniques have become part of mainstream information management systems in many ways that do not concern military campaigns or government relations with citizenry. Businesses may even contract with other businesses to conduct perception management for them, or they may conduct it in-house with their public relations staff.
Perception management is a term originated by the U. S. military. The U. S. Department of Defense (DOD) gives this definition:
Actions to convey and/or deny selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning as well as to intelligence systems and leaders at all levels to influence official estimates, ultimately resulting in foreign behaviors and official actions favorable to the originator's objectives. In various ways, perception management combines truth projection, operations security, cover and deception, and psychological operations.
