re: disability 2012
I suppose part of the value to society of the disabled, is that it shows or demos or should show folks what awaits most of them in their becoming old aged.
Whether thus people chose to see that as a burden or an opportunity or insight, is dependent upon ones degree of empathy.
To though, little wonder care givers themselves burn out when they aside from heavy lifting, regularly get abused and accused by those they seek to help, sustain and support and keep back sides shined.
but hey that's life aye and
some days one is the crutch,
some days the broken leg,
and occasionally on holidays,
one is the one sipping rum and seven out by the pool side under the sun on charge plastic.

re: global neighbors
well hey it is a bit disconcerting when ones neighbor (Syria) worships the god or doctrine of madness, death and destruction.....and the dead bodies lying all over his yard..... Isn't there someone you can call to sort of handle these problem children. hmmmm sort of to have them locked secure some where where they won't pose a danger to themselves and others and the environment..... well maybe we could make a global body to handle such..... hmmm say called it the united countries or i know the united nations or UN or something. have all the global players on board .....with joint policing force.when needed..and say draw up a constitution and declaration of rights or something...... like hey a universal declaration of human rights .... What do you think.???? never work.... hmmm yea probably not .... people rather spend their hard earned money on the virtual internet neighbor and their ipad than the real world.... well whatever.... just a thought....

RE: ANTINOMIES OF THE REALM
A problem that emerges or can emerge in a diverse and multicultural society, involves the presupposition that some hold, that their definition or brand of normalcy, health, world view/way or success etc. is the one universal one, yet reality shows us and concedes that part of the benefit of diversity is that different conditions and states of such fuel the universe of discourse and provide interest and worth to all to some degree over time, whether they be the result of nature, nurture, culture, etc..
This then is where democracy figures in and is quite important in a diverse society, in that it affords the change of governments occasionally, so that hopefully each relevant and legitimate model of such has a turn and effect at the reigns of power while respecting the rights and powers of the legitimate others.
While then, there are equally legitimate and valid, states of health, normalcy and success etc. there are some aberrant and perverted behaviors and beliefs which society just can not accept and tolerate and which are detrimental to the well being of the whole as a whole and thus the existence of basic general laws to govern such. These base laws or commandments thus form the infrastructural framework and components of a effective and sustainable society.
