I'm putting tinfoil up on the windows
Lying down in the dark to dream
I don't want to see their faces
I don't want to hear them scream - Warren Zevon
An anonymous reader (of [link]) passed us a NetworkWorld link about an effort at DARPA to succeed in combat through networking. The idea is to keep soldiers in a position of informational superiority through a tactical radio network that would 'link' everyone together on the battlefield.
"Project WAND, for Wireless Adaptive Network Development, will exploit commercial radio components, rather than custom ones, and use a variety of software techniques and algorithms, many of them only just now emerging in mature form. These $500 walkie-talkie-size radios will form large-scale, peer-to-peer ad hoc nets, which can shift frequencies, sidestep interference, and handle a range of events that today completely disrupt wireless communications ... [right now] 'The average soldier on the ground doesn't have a radio,' says Jason Redi, principle scientist for BBN's network technologies group, and the man overseeing the software work. Radios are reserved for platoon and company commanders, in part because of their cost: typically $15,000 to $20,000 each, with vehicle-mounted radios reaching $80,000." Read More

On Track for U.S. Collapse
By Michael S. Rozeff
Bush and Cheney are steering the U.S. into a collapse. Only strong public voices by influential people can prevent the coming disaster. We desperately need for men and women who are known to the public and have credibility to speak up in the critical period ahead to avoid catastrophe.

In lieu of the experiences of many in Fascist Corporate America I thought I'd transplant an article from Dr Greer, Director of The Disclosure Project, to this place so that maybe a few more could be alerted to what is being planned for the average homo sapiens sapiens who is being herded every bit as much as are cattle towards a definite end not dissimilar.
President Eisenhower's farewell address to the nation, January 1961
"In the counsels of Government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military Industrial Complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together." SECRECY
"Secrecy - the first refuge of incompetents - must be at bare minimum in a democratic society, for a fully informed public is the basis of self-government. Those elected or appointed to positions of executive authority must recognize that government, in a democracy, cannot be wiser than the people."
- Commission on Government Security, the Committee on Government Operations of the House of Representatives, 1960 Report

"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds. Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents come alive, and you discover yourself to be the greater person by far than you ever dreamt yourself to be..."

Thought I'd put Carolyns article here as I feel she has a lot to say about the contemporary fix the worlds 'civilization' finds itself in. That of... crumbling! Lots to think about for those who still can think. Lots to do for those who feel so inclined. In viewing it all, though, I think it wise not to forget that life, like all else, comes in cycles of... birth, life, death and rebirth. What you see in front of you is a mirage of your own making. Yes, you... the Maker. Enjoy.

CELEBRATING AMERICAN TEARS: Responding to Naomi Wolf's Recent Missive
Last month I reviewed Naomi Wolf's recent best seller, The End Of America: Letter Of Warning To A Young Patriot in which I praised Wolf's succinct and thorough analysis of the triumph of fascism in the United States. This past week, Wolf's article "American Tears" has been posted on a variety of internet sites and forwarded to me several times. Whereas I was inspired to give The End Of America a glowing review that it more than deserves, I must take issue with the fundamental premise of "American Tears" which is in my opinion, the most inappropriate of all responses to the dire situation Wolf elucidates in The End Of America.
Wolf begins by stating, "I wish people would stop breaking into tears when they talk to me these days." This statement left be breathless and gasping for air. However, I continued reading because I already had a sense of where Wolf was going. As I had correctly intuited, her premise is that we should not be debilitated by our grief, but rather rise to the occasion and fight for the constitutional democracy that is being stolen from us.
What I found so appalling about Wolf's essay was not her premise with which I agree in part, but the vacuousness of her one-sided perspective. Yes, we must resist the fascist empire that has declared unspoken war on every nation on earth and on its own citizens, but I must disagree with why and how Wolf admonishes us to resist.
Before any further analysis of Naomi Wolf's perspective, let's pause to consider what is at stake. Scientists are telling us that nearly 200 species per day on earth are going extinct; virtually every resource on earth, including energy, water, and food is being perilously depleted and privatized; the capacity of the planet to carry its current number of inhabitants is already stretched to the breaking point and cannot sustain the rate at which human population continues to grow; our food, water, and air are nearly unfit to take into our bodies; numerous, endless resource wars around the globe could potentially erupt into nuclear holocausts; the future of our children and grandchildren has been mortgaged into abject poverty; educational institutions are producing graduates who are incapable of thinking critically; the world economy is entering economic meltdown; and ghastly global pandemics are waiting to eliminate breathtaking numbers of human beings. I could continue the litany, but if you've read thus far and feel nothing in your body, please check your vital signs. If you do feel something, it's important to notice what that is. In fact, our not noticing, our not feeling, is exactly what has brought about the horrors I have just enumerated.
The heroic, cerebral, non-visceral perspective embraced by Wolf is unequivocally part of the problem. But what do I mean by heroic? Read More

“But if the middle space [Russia and the former Soviet Union] rebuffs the West [the European Union and America], becomes an assertive single entity, and either gains control over the South [Middle East] or forms an alliance with the major Eastern actor [China], then America’s primacy in Eurasia shrinks dramatically. The same would be the case if the two major Eastern players were somehow to unite. Finally, any ejection of America by its Western partners [the Franco-German entente] from its perch on the western periphery [Europe] would automatically spell the end of America’s participation in the game on the Eurasian chessboard, even though that would probably also mean the eventual subordination of the western extremity to a revived player occupying the middle space [e.g. Russia].” -Zbigniew Brzezinski (The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives, 1997)

The first principle of psywar is never repeat the talking points of your enemy.
The second principle is to deny them a platform to misinform.
WRAL TechWire, Oct. 1, 2007
The American education system is not mobilizing to support science, technology, engineering
and math.
Today's generation of kids is the most technology savvy group that this country has ever
produced. They are born with an iPod in one hand and a cell phone in another. They're text
messaging, e-mailing, instant messaging. They're on MySpace, YouTube & Google. They've got
Nintendo Wiis, Game Boys, Play Stations.
Their world is one of total interactivity. They're in constant communication with each other,
but when they go to school, they are told to leave those "toys" at home. They're not to be
used in school. Instead, the system continues teaching as if these kids belong to the last
century, by standing in front of a blackboard.

Cyborg insects with embedded microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) will run remotely
controlled reconnaissance missions for the military, if its '"HI-MEMS" program succeeds.
The Hybrid-Insect MEMS program hatched earlier this year at the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency plans to develop cyborg bugs to patrol, gather intelligence, penetrate secret
meetings, track targets, retrieve samples and more.
For now, the DARPA program is concentrating on micro-miniaturizing MEMS sensors that can
stream data back from video cameras, audio microphones and other sensors the insect is
carrying. Next, they plan to incorporate microfluidic devices that can pack different
chemicals to be delivered as payloads--for instance in a bee sting--and to dispense
pheromones to control the flight of swarms. But Darpa's ultimate plan is to eventually hack
into the insects own natural senses, allowing the remote-control operator to look out of the
insects own eyes, instead of attaching a video camera for it to carry.

I'm placing the next bits of articles, and links to the full article texts, below as leaders into Cindy Sheehans' article "Pro-Democracy Means Anti-Fascism" just to lead you astray. ;)
Cindy is all adament about the evils of the Bush-Co but refuses to see that it is because of Democracy that we are now faced with this insidious form of tyranny. It didn't come overnight and it didn't come with or because of George Bush!
It began ever so subtly with Alexander Hamilton at the onset of the new Republic into the waters of world commerce.
No one seems willing to confront the fact, nor even except it, that this nation was founded as a Constitutional Republic for very good reasons none of them having anything to do with private enterprise but all of them having to do with the freedom and right to be self determining.
I shan't go into the differences between a Constitutional Republic and a Legislative Democracy or even the different types of citizens in the Corporate UNITED STATES for profit and the States themselves as individual 'nation' states not beholden to the monster in Washington but supposedly in charge of it.
Washington D.C. is NOT a State! You may not understand the difference nor how insidious was the way in which Corporate Predatory Capitalism took over. I won't even reprimand you on your ignorance.
You got that way because of the American Educational System which is short for none other than Mind Control at the hands of the Ensconced Elite. The Fascisti, the Plutocracy, which is not of Native bent.
Enjoy the following embers of hidden dissent...
Case Dismissed?
September 20, 2007, Newsweek

The nation’s biggest telecommunications companies, working closely with the White House, have mounted a secretive lobbying campaign to get Congress to quickly approve a measure wiping out all private lawsuits against them for assisting the U.S. intelligence community’s warrantless surveillance programs. The campaign -— which involves some of Washington's most prominent lobbying and law firms -— has taken on new urgency in recent weeks because of fears that a U.S. appellate court in San Francisco is poised to rule that the lawsuits should be allowed to proceed. If that happens, the telecom companies say, they may be forced to terminate their cooperation with the U.S. intelligence community -— or risk potentially crippling damage awards for allegedly turning over personal information about their customers to the government without a judicial warrant. But critics say the language proposed by the White House -— drafted in close cooperation with the industry officials -— is so extraordinarily broad that it would provide retroactive immunity for all past telecom actions related to the surveillance program. Its practical effect, they argue, would be to shut down any independent judicial or state inquires into how the companies have assisted the government in eavesdropping on the telephone calls and e-mails of U.S. residents in the aftermath of the September 11 terror attacks. “It’s clear the goal is to kill our case," said Cindy Cohn, legal director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a San Francisco-based privacy group that filed the main lawsuit against the telecoms after The New York Times first disclosed, in December 2005, that President Bush had approved a secret program to monitor the phone conversations of U.S. residents without first seeking judicial warrants. “I find it a little shocking that Congress would participate in the covering up of what has been going on," added Cohn.
Searching Passengers' Faces For Subtle Cues to Terror
September 19, 2007, Washington Post
[link]
Looking for signs of "stress, fear and deception" among the hundreds of passengers shuffling past him at Orlando International Airport one day last month, security screener Edgar Medina immediately focused on four casually dressed men trying to catch a flight to Minneapolis. One of the men, in particular, was giving obvious signs of trying to hide something, Medina said. After obtaining the passengers' ID cards and boarding passes, the Transportation Security Administration officer quickly determined the men were illegal immigrants traveling with fake Florida driver's licenses. They were detained. The otherwise mundane arrests Aug. 13 illustrated an increasingly popular tactic in the government's effort to fight terrorism: detecting lawbreakers or potential terrorists by their behavior. The TSA has embraced the strategy, training 600 of its screeners ... in detection techniques. The TSA's teams are the most publicly acknowledged effort by the government or the private sector to come up with strategies and technology to detect lawbreakers or terrorists before they commit a crime. Other technologies under development or being deployed include machines that detect stress in voices and software that scans video images to match the faces of passengers with those of known terrorists. The government is testing other technology that can see through clothing with ... electromagnetic waves. TSA's growing reliance on detecting behavior and the close study of passengers' expressions concerns civil liberties groups and members of Congress. "The problem is behavioral characteristics will be found where you look for them," said John Reinstein, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts. Read More

Psycho-Sounding (means of obtaining information from an individual's mind without his will and awareness);
Psycho-Zond™ is based on mathematical analysis of an individual's behavioral and/or physiological responses to semantic (meaningful) stimuli presented to him, which bypass his consciousness.
PsychoCorrection™ For influencing an individual's decisions, modifying personality and managing its condition and behavior, psychocorrection is based on the use of persuasion, explanation, and instructions that bypass the subject's volitional control and consciousness. Psychocorrection consists of presenting to the subject, without his awareness, visual, acoustic and other semantic stimuli, prepared and formulated into guiding imperatives.
Psycho-Feedback in the Man-Computer Link
"Semantic resonator" - an algorithmically realized project, is a device combining software and hardware for establishing complete psycho-feedback in a man-computer interface. Provides the capability to mentally manage a computer and its resources for the individual's needs on a subconscious level. The main goal is to enable individuals to gain direct access to their own mental reserves to accomplish tasks. Read More

This is as good a place as any to place this recent article that I picked up somewhere on the web.
You'll notice two sides in this march on Washington. Pro and anti (Such a GPM!). Great Hegelian dialectic being played out in the streets. Lots of arrests and, as one demonstrator said, "We wanted to show you that it isn't just a bunch of old 60's hippies that are against this war."
Democracy in this country is dead. Of course your pundits harangue the people on and on and on about this country being a Democracy...but it isn't and never was!
Democracy is one of the most febrile forms of Government in existence (In existence? Where?) and always, without exception, leads to the kind of tyranny you see that Amerika really stands for.
The Constitution of no authority (cf., Lysandor Spooner) guarantees us a Republican form a Government (Not to be confused with the party that goes by that name but doesn't know the meaning of res-publica).
A Constitutionally limited 'Republic!' Not an Oligarchy, not a Democracy and not a Dictatorship!
Ken Keysey looked forward to the 90's being a time of great turmoil and change that would make the 60's look tame in comparison. Didn't happen. Perhaps this is the beginning of the 'movement' which spells the death of this tyrannical faux 'Democracy' foisted upon the unwitting of this country by a colony of thieves, deceivers, liars, and jesters perporting to be worthy of leading us!
Enough is enough! Let the drums roll! Let the walls of Jericho fall by the blasts of this new years shofar and let the tyrants run out of their hiding places into the streets to face us! They won't. They'll send their shock troops, their Gestapos, their 'boodle-boys in blue' to strike down old men and women, young girls and boys.
But I assure you their end is near... Read More
