Financially supported my the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the Association of German Development Organisations (NGOs) VENRO publications:, organized by the World Univerity Service (WUS) is organizing a drafting and preparation event to discuss the state of the arts of education for sustainability and development and prepare an input paper for the last session in Germany to finalize the UN Decade for Sustainability in 2 weeks in Bonn, Germany.
I am registered as I will report for the German Association of Towns and Regions (DStGB) about the follow up process after the Decade and how to build on the achievents of this 10 years efforts. They speak about Transformation after the Term „Sustainable“ is omnipresent, used for everything without any meaning, Pörksen spoke about „Plastic“ words, politics is using for big gestures without shared content, concepts and context. Such „fashionable“ terms can be used if the have no referent, when they are not embodied and can not be negotiated form various perspectives and positions. I propose here again „Concept and Context Mapping“ and „Bridges and a Masterplan“.
Norbert Seitz is summing up Global Learning for Environment, Cultures, Development ... and citing big names from the history of the field of Education, Pardigms, Philosophy ... : Comenius, Alfred Treml, Polanyi, Toulmin, Marcel Hunecke, Paolo Freire, Reinhard Voss, ... this alone is a good justification to come to another gathering, and we now need to go after having a broader, global perspective by other speakers some 5 workshops, I sometimes call it entertainment in Kindergarten; Again presentations and sitting in small groups...
The Opening Presentation by Tobias Troll was also very good ! Congrats to invite him !! - BUT is there a base for his synthetic systemic outlook? based on a few interviews??
His craving for transformation and new paradigms is presented well, but there is no practical approach and just mentioning Transition Towns is not enough. I mentioned Georg Kuehlewind and Metaparadigms **** and there were great talks in the coffee break....
Seitz just said „there is no „masterplan, blueprint, model“
- I could not resist to question by adding from the floor: There is no "SINGLE" „masterplan, blueprint, model, schema, ...“. I later refer to "multi-modal" approaches...
Seitz mentions footprints, but where is the discussion on handprints and mindprints !? he speaks about „niches“ and „odd“ developments which have not met the mainstream and maybe some never will.... I wonder how they can be found with GOOGLE Searches …. I also mention in the statement "from the floor" multi-modal, no "single" but connected schemas/frames/models.....
Seitz speaks about the "Interlinkage of Levels" = Ebenenverschränkung, but how? We discussed "elevators" between scales, granularities, levels, magnitudes, ... since years. So where it the progress?
In our work session we are asked to propose input for the "BERLIN DECLARATION". The last "Berlin Declaration"!http://www.berlin-declaration.org/datei/quistorp/index3.html I was busy with was before the IRAK WAR. so please forgive my sentiments, concerns, wonderings,....
I need to get down to this later .... But now let us get back to the "Declaration" process. We are asked to come in a rush to 3-4 recommendations / inputs by ... the next "Decade" progress input - the BERLIN input !!
TO BE CLEAR: I only entered this group, ecercise, mingling, ... (with some difficulty) as I feel Environmental and Cultual Development NGOs have a broad approach and expertise, it is not only about social, cultual, regional, ... but they have life experience in the world around and in "living" Life learning rooms around the world...
So what is happening? We go into groups and sub-groups, like in Kindergarten, we can add lines to a document, which will be polsihed in the sub-group, group, later planung and than is subject to an editorial commitee, for final wording !!
DO not get me wrong, this is alreay semi-participartory and includes bottom-up inputs !! But THIS IS NOT WHAT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT !
Here an example: We discuss in our group multi-perspective, multi-dimensional, ... inputs and modes of working and doing. Our Groups goes along with it - AND I FEEL "ONE" - but my examples of of embodied, contrete, context specific and situational models ans exercises have no chance in in such a "hamster-wheel" formulation exercise.
Is this waht we call particisaption and democracy? When are we giving times for questions, learning, improvements,...I was "sick" as my group liked my words and practical resonnance, but the is no time for negotiations and practice, dancing - as we mentioned..
For me this "bracketing" in UN negotiation processes is one of my initiation exercises, how long itg takes to move and delete/negotiate boundaries/brackets.....
This Particpation, Deliberation, and Negotiation Prosess is very dear to me, check 21stCenturyAgora.org, but this needs space and exercises later...
