The ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin) [link] opening press conference was this morninig. The ITB includes interesting conferfences and side events, focus on indigenes and handicapped - and even many ohters.
check later -- the signet might be controversial- I hope ... I have just studied the world map of the World Academies - and whoops .. there is a difference most of us ignore.
Before we focus on Tourism and LifeStyles, maybe have a second look at WORLD MAPS. Yesterday, March 1st was FUTURE DAY, and again like last year there was a HANG-OUT to meetup and share among friends and aliens....

I focussed last years on MDGs and SDGs - now the challenges of expanding beyond isolated Goals, Challenges, Problems, Issues, ... are getting more obvious. But what is the progress since Rio 1992 ?
I can only make you revist the recommendations on page 3 ***** and come back, as the issue to go beyond clan-think, group-think, silo-think, sector/disipline-thinking is more critical and relevant than ever.

German / French Television ARTE presented yesterday in X:enius ALS - Amyotrophe Lateralsklerose - in English: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and it was like a deja vue... How little was achieved - but how through an internet happening like the ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE is creating public awareness. Funds and Grants skyrocket after this ICE BUCKET Challenge - so maybe check "my" background, Angela Jansen, and the ART X: enius production from this week (now on ARTE+7): [link]

Wir haben für Angela Jansen vor Jahren eine KEYNOTE organisiert, nicht in Turin sondern in Ihrem Bett in Berlin, damit EYE-GAZE und was da alles möglich ist, so Mut, Willen, und Geist da ist.... Angela ist da ein BEISPIEL für mich und vielleicht für viele andere um "nicht nur um mit den Augen zu tanzen". I made a lot of notes about how to go beyond extremes, a praise of the in-between.
So some back as MASS und MITTE - or ORDER and MENSURA are important themes for me. Both make sense with shared frames and scaffoldings of reference and by including "workspaces of the mind".
I have just read last months SPIEGEL interview with Michael Gorbachew: [link] He makes very clear where the deep rifts are between our mind-sets. He feels we should widen our reality beyond right-wrong, east-west, ... and this is what he publish in the NEUES DENKEN - New Thinking 20 years ago. But did we make it real and shared?
I also recall the Spectrum - the In-Between - maybe we should check the new report how "beyond" and "in-between" solutions have been explored and will be implemented.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a FIRST in this blog, an announcement for our event March 19-21, in Duisburg, Germany.
When I met the Pitch Doctor at the IFA some years ago I was impressed. I did not know the term pitching but I was impressed how learning to present oneself, ideas, projects, solutions , … was a new capability to be learned my entrepreneurs. A fast learning track on the way get to market and find funds...
For me this 1:30 in media and politics was well known, but now wider circles learned to be short, precise, terse,... and that was actually what we do with the Magic Roundtable format. But there we do not present „onethelves and a topic/solution“ as you see with the fashionable TED pitches since some years, but where we interact and weave together solutions and resources, teams and how to form new fabrics and patterns through empowerment and encouragement.
Since a few years we organize Magic Roundtables at the Entrepreneurship Summit in Berlin - for example 2011 - 2012 and in addition the last 2 years we where part of the "OPEN-SPACE" where a collegue Joachim *** is doing with the gong the Speed-Pitching – and we invited these „trained pitchers“ to mingle with speakers and participants to see how their ideas or projects resonnate and connect with „others“. I feel this was reaching a new Niveau after all these slams, pitches, Pecha Cuchas. I attended.
Recently we did in and with people from the European Commission in Berlin the introduction of a new research programme: The EU CAPS DAY and there we did exactly that: Harvest the Inputs and do a dialogue/conversation in a larger circle. One of the most decent and deep people I had the pleasure to meet was Richard von Weizsäcker. A decent man, a Diplomat, and with values and stringent as you can see in some interviews when some people did not get what he said. He was later in the Magnus Haus in Berlin, in Berlin on the Parkett, and in the World - always decent and as his son said always "remaining calm". I had a very long exchange with him in Frankfurt in 1998 or so, at on of our "Club of Budapest" Events/Encounters. He was on the "edge" of accepting Honorary Membership in the Club of Budapest. [link] It was a time I will never forget, but **** the Dalei Lama, Gorbachew, ... where around and on Topic was "THE NEW THINKING" das "Neue Denken". [link] Meeting him ver 25 years here and there, for me his accepting Membership in the "Club of Budapest" was one of the elemets to keep silent, keep on trucking, even when the fights aroud the Club where heavy and too often, under the belly, as I feel needs to be revisited as original thoughts like "The Club of Rome and the Club of Budapest".
I have met sons like Albert Speer and Richard von Weizsäcker supporting their father, like "unconditionally" and with clear values and ethics in place.
The history of fighting in the trenches of the credibility and visibility of celebrities, we called it honorary and creative members, still needs to be told, as there is some learning about how to deal with "peers" and "others".
This is work in Progress - I only hear now the message of him passing away... but I feel it is the right time to speak up about how we connect, how we unite and find allies, how we compromise, and how we avoid refusing aliance or overcomming alliance once granted......

The Log links to my work and interests and presents issues and special concern of maybe a very small group of "concerned, engaged generalist" - a Global Interest Group (GIG). This needs to be seen in contrast to the ubiquitous Specialized Interest Groups (SIGs), the "scientific" approach to organize subject areas and specialization and standardization and harmonization! of means, nomenclatures, and modes of thinking. My favorite stories in the WHOLENESS SEMINAR include:
BELA BANATHY: "GENESIS
OF GENERAL SYSTEMS THEORY" and "IVAN HAVEL: Longing for Unified Knowledge" where a "specialist" runs into the founding session of the early foundations General Systems, mumbling "this is not my field" or where Ivan M. Havel expresses his search for other kinds of knowledge.
As a starter I also recommend to check my MINDPRINT site, where we add the need for HANDPRINTS and MINDPRINTS, as FOOTPRINTS are good to visualize and communicate numbers, densities or consumption per area, but are not sufficient to negotiate and "harmonize" across domains and communicate gains in different cultures, technologies, times,... in short: incompatible but relevant information and our work on dialog, peace, policy-making, and multi-modal, faceted issues and consequences.
What am I? This is a "well-packed" question for which I have not the or a single answer. Some called me an in-betweener, go-getter, facilitator, hub, marvel-hero, trim-tab, bricoleur, bricoleers??? - career designeer, .... Some even "hank" which I disliked or Story which I liked very much !!
I have no single answer as I feel we need to walk the talk and sing and dance Life ! in spectra and fields in multiple embodied spaces.
To nebulous an answer? I am sorry but I do not go for overclaims and oversimplifications, under-complex and over-simplistic approaches with clan-think mindsets about real issues in clear contexts!
