Again in the HKW, and again the WHOLE EARTH. [link] The time of the late 60ies and early 70ies was giving me much more kicks than I had realized before, so I could not resist asking some "ice-breaking" questions and was very relieved that Panellists and Curators could relate outside of the box (of this series of events and exhibition) and definitely I enjoyed yesterday afternoon/evening.

I really enjoyed the answers from DIEDRICH DIEDRICHSEN and feel the presentations form FRED TURNER and TOM HOLERT were far-out and EVA MAYER mentioning Gotthard Guenther. This was really worth the effort going there !! finally linking Günther and Stachowiak again in public: [link] Oh, how I would have loved to sit in a circle with such panelist and some participants and go into deep conversations, not just this silly Q&A with a few questions from the floor!
Beside other good presentations I feel I need to mention the quality and richness of the participants. How! in which format? Maybe ike next week !? see Open-Forum and Stammtisch 3.0 and the workshop COLABORATIVE FUTURES CREATION: - see the WFSF conference mentioned below.

I am preparing presently from the systems and participation perspective somerthing about COLLECTIVE FUTURES CREATION. The critical times of Normative, Participative, and Prognostic "Bifurcations" in communities, so please check 40 Years World Futures Studies Federation, and there our OPEN Workspaces next week: (PDF Program) I wondered and asked how panellists where seeing connections to the EXPLORATORIUM, and as Education was mentioned, Kueckelhaus and including all senses, or the origins of EARTH DAY and the times of 1957, and not just 1966 (Steward Brand) when this new thinking went on track with its [R]evolution. SOIL, like WATER, HEALTH, CLIMATE, SECURITY, ... are very important issues treated as sectors or silos in many cases, but now we have a final call and need to bridge them: NEXUS !! is the new objective and mission and term. So watch out - are very important term for the next programmes and summits !! Even the DG Klaus Töpfer was there: [link] and he was suprised to see me as i was the only with an "observer" status - like we said when I was young: sitting "besides" and not allowed to speak up !
But I was at the GLOBAL SOIL WEEK last year and I liked it very much, specially the GLOBAL COMMONS section, and feel that we need to make the NEXUS become real !! finally !! My question would be: "What is the plural of NEXUS - and aRE WE PREPARED FOR MANY AND HOW THEY INTERACT!? just a question...

Berlin is like a bees-hive these days. We have the Asia Pacific Week June 4-14 with the title SmartCities, meeting in the Princesses gardens as organized by the asbc (see more below) or the Käte Hamburger Lecture and Modern Diplomacy Handbook! The Foundations Week June 4-14, and lot of very special side-events, like the First Diversity Day, or the foundations presentations like in teh field of environment or capacity building, and besides there is for example the Kulturpolitical Federal Congress 12-14 With the title: Culture Politics as planned? - Kultur nach Plan ?Strategies of concept-based culture politics. We are talking her about hundreds of Events and „Long Nights“ - it like the Roman Games and Circus as I feel these events had much in common. Exhausting.... but I will try to select some very special highlights, like the ones on Diplomacy or on Urban Farming, but also "Planning" and Cultural Policy - for me a very special and controversial theme - check out the Culture Politics Policy links and how we can cultivate culture and keep the socail and other sectores/dimensions in mind !!

Every 3 years the German Association of German Cities and Communities / Deutscher Städte- und Gemeindebund www.dstgb.de assembles its German Communal Congress - DEUTSCHEN KOMMUNALKONGRESS. And here we are yesterday and today!

We have the Mrs. Chancelor, Ministers, the President of the European Parliament and about 600 mayors here... quite an Assembly !! oops - Mrs Angela Merkel had to be excused - her duty is now to be seen by "making herself a picture of the desaster" in various regions of the country !! it is election times and the times are grim, the worst flood since hundreds of years in some places.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS PERSONAL BLOG an ARTISTIC and PERFORMATIVE MEDIA INTERVENTION !
The Log links to my work and interests and presents issues and special concern of maybe a very small group of "concerned, engaged generalist" - a Global Interest Group (GIG). This needs to be seen in contrast to the ubiquitous Specialized Interest Groups (SIGs), the "scientific" approach to organize subject areas and specialization and standardization and harmonization! of means, nomenclatures, and modes of thinking. My favorite stories in the WHOLENESS SEMINAR include:
BELA BANATHY: "GENESIS
OF GENERAL SYSTEMS THEORY" and "IVAN HAVEL: Longing for Unified Knowledge" where a "specialist" runs into the founding session of the early foundations General Systems, mumbling "this is not my field" or where Ivan M. Havel expresses his search for other kinds of knowledge.
As a starter I also recommend to check my MINDPRINT site, where we add the need for HANDPRINTS and MINDPRINTS, as FOOTPRINTS are good to visualize and communicate numbers, densities or consumption per area, but are not sufficient to negotiate and "harmonize" across domains and communicate gains in different cultures, technologies, times,... in short: incompatible but relevant information and our work on dialog, peace, policy-making, and multi-modal, faceted issues and consequences.
What am I? This is a "well-packed" question for which I have not the or a single answer. Some called me an in-betweener, go-getter, facilitator, hub, marvel-hero, trim-tab, bricoleur, bricoleers??? - career designeer, .... Some even "hank" which I disliked or Story which I liked very much !!
I have no single answer as I feel we need to walk the talk and sing and dance Life ! in spectra and fields in multiple embodied spaces.
To nebulous an answer? I am sorry but I do not go for overclaims and oversimplifications, under-complex and over-simplistic approaches with clan-think mindsets about real issues in clear contexts!
