The exhibition and the conference The Whole Earth are dedicated to the story of the image of the “blue planet” which has become one of the most influential images in history. The project takes its starting point in historical developments in California since the 1960s: using materials from cultural history and artistic works, the exhibition will critically explore the application of ecological-systemic concepts to society, politics, and aesthetics. The transformation of romantic and technophile ideas from the realm of counterculture and cybernetics lead to concepts of the system and self-management in network capitalism that have a global impact today. At 11:15 am yesterday all around the world the PEACE BELLS were ringing for a Minute of Peace. There the EARTHDAY / UN DAY of HAPPINESS was kicked off and we revited in Potsdam the CITY OF FLOWS at the isi2013. I got to rush now, but check the tweets and come back!

We have a nightmare of parallel event around agriculture this and next ween around the grüne Woche. Stay tuned for AGRICULTURE IN TRANSITION and the largest gathering of Agricultural Ministers (70) ever on this planet ! [link]
I am writing this on Jan 22 as all the celebrities celebrate in the Philharmony in Berlin for honouring 50 years French-German friendship ! - Too busy these day for formal events.... and I feel little to celebrate when teh mainstream think seems to be to "externalize everything!" - even conflicts !!
BACK to 50 years friendship and rural/pagan development the blindspot of vocational and life-long learning we obvious. Jan 22. Now a week later we have the top level celebrations on government level. A week crowded with events [link] and now TV and Radio, Music-Halls and finally KARAMBOLAGE tonight 20.00 hrs at ARTE !! full of 50 years friendship and thinkpieces..... Yesterday the youth designed the Future of regional development at Green Week. Presenting their results today to the ministers ! But did they mention vocational training? Didn't they just repeated what is in the published reports? I feel we need some more variety and genuine new views on life and the futures of youth and how to live in remote areas. What was up: The kick-off with the Green Party parliamentarians from Brussels, Paris, Bonn preparing for and celebrating 50 years friendship between Germany and France. You will probably not receive this is "domestic" European stuff/news, but you might have heard some of the names of European Parlamentarians and French Ministers before. So stay tunes as we have a tight schedule in the week and weeks to come.
Attending as INBAK [link] we presented a recycling vocational youth training project between a school in Versailles and Berlin doing another BücherboXX - the youth were also with us in the parliamentary roundtable ! See? we were sitting in circles !!!

Today is the "kick-off" of the Anthropocene Project in Berlin. [link] Please check the programme and come back later for comments and insides about the outsides! What is happening here the next 4 days and next 2 years about the matter! PLEASE EXCUSE THAT THE IMAGES / SIGNETS ARE NOT "CLEARED" yet and need some polish... but hopefully provide an idea and message to come grip by grasping, groping and groking I will try to exchange with some "copyleft" stuff a.s.a.p. ....
THE ANTHROPOCENE PROJECT looks like an aspiring and laudable major effort, bringing exact and fine arts and sciences to one place so we can feel collectively different assumptions, attitudes, modes, senses, and expressions in a new project, drafting in the LAB a new international transdisciplinaryy, holistic and multi-modal research agenda.
No question it is good to bring sciences together - transdisciplinary efforts involving policy makers, exhibition makers and even "normal" citizens, pupils and the broader public: The questions remains how to secure lasting relevant action to scheme results that matter! BUT, did't the Council of Europe try this in 1995 already with the help of Munich's Goethe Institue in 1996 or so !??? [link] And how about all the other integrative ne research schemes the last decades. I just remember a seesion where I presented at Humboldt University about Mapping Natural and Cultural Diversity (Tropentag 2004). ***** It was well received by the participants but there is nor follow up for anything beyond the realm of one discipline/field (see citation above) or the ISKO conference 2002 in Granada. So the question comes up: Arent't we just re-inventing wheels here at the HKW !???, avoiding to "connect the dots" [link] and ignore much of what is there already, even long before the internet!!? It is obvious that such a task of designing episodal and epochal Eras for the better in Situation Peace Rooms with new forms and modes of participation can not be a write-up during the first sessions. Such gargantuan series of events over days and years in the HKW with maybe 1000 participants at a single day is of quite another magnitude when compared to other efforts and formats and can in no way a panacea or address all the questions I raise above. So it great to have here in the HKW opportunities to not only gather a large auditorium but also in many lecture halls, cafes, lobbys, ... where you not only have formats like activity islands, but also incorporating the design an international research effort/programme with many partners and interests and at the same time with the mandate and mission "please" and entertain the public, invite participation and learn and negotiate beyond the need to agree ! I was atracted since the first announcement by the title: 29C3 - Not my department
far-out - so what is our "department" or "field" ?
I feel I will need to produce an answer ! presenting not only the fields but also to frames and how to negotiate different mind-sets and cosmologies.

The Event
The 29th Chaos Communication Congress (29C3) is an annual four-day conference on technology, society and utopia. The Congress offers lectures and workshops on a multitude of topics including (but not limited to) information technology and generally a critical-creative attitude towards technology and the discussion about the effects of technological advances on society.
For 29 years, the congress has been organized by the community and appreciates all kinds of participation. You are encouraged to contribute by volunteering, setting up and hosting hands-on events with the other components of your assembly or presenting your own projects to fellow hackers.
Some basic survival guidelines might come in handy for everything not answered in our 29C3 FAQ. Updated information are covered by the CCC Events Blog or via Twitter (@CCC).

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS PERSONAL BLOG an ARTISTIC and PERFORMATIVE MEDIA INTERVENTION !
The Log links to my work and interests and presents issues and special concern of maybe a very small group of "concerned, engaged generalist" - a Global Interest Group (GIG). This needs to be seen in contrast to the ubiquitous Specialized Interest Groups (SIGs), the "scientific" approach to organize subject areas and specialization and standardization and harmonization! of means, nomenclatures, and modes of thinking. My favorite stories in the WHOLENESS SEMINAR include:
BELA BANATHY: "GENESIS
OF GENERAL SYSTEMS THEORY" and "IVAN HAVEL: Longing for Unified Knowledge" where a "specialist" runs into the founding session of the early foundations General Systems, mumbling "this is not my field" or where Ivan M. Havel expresses his search for other kinds of knowledge.
As a starter I also recommend to check my MINDPRINT site, where we add the need for HANDPRINTS and MINDPRINTS, as FOOTPRINTS are good to visualize and communicate numbers, densities or consumption per area, but are not sufficient to negotiate and "harmonize" across domains and communicate gains in different cultures, technologies, times,... in short: incompatible but relevant information and our work on dialog, peace, policy-making, and multi-modal, faceted issues and consequences.
What am I? This is a "well-packed" question for which I have not the or a single answer. Some called me an in-betweener, go-getter, facilitator, hub, marvel-hero, trim-tab, bricoleur, bricoleers??? - career designeer, .... Some even "hank" which I disliked or Story which I liked very much !!
I have no single answer as I feel we need to walk the talk and sing and dance Life ! in spectra and fields in multiple embodied spaces.
To nebulous an answer? I am sorry but I do not go for overclaims and oversimplifications, under-complex and over-simplistic approaches with clan-think mindsets about real issues in clear contexts!
