First more about the The Nuclear Free Future Award:
Founded by Claus Biegert in 1997 in the follow-up of the remarkable World Uranium Hearing in Salzburg (Austria) in 1992, the Nuclear Free Future Award, all thanks to the Franz Moll Foundation for the Coming Generations, and not let us forget Robert Jungk !!
The Award is annually honouring people of outstanding influence and action for the abolishment of nuclear weapons and nuclear technology worldwide. The initiative is committed to the health and cultural integrity of indigenous peoples, whose land and most holy places are getting destroyed through uranium mining and radioactive dust and waste.

Flagship Report 2011 of the German Advisory Council on Global Change
Full text: to be published in fall 2011, Summary: (pdf, 6.5 MB) [link]
In this report, the WBGU explains the reasons for the desperate need for a post-fossil economic strategy, yet it also concludes that the transition to sustainability is achievable, and presents ten concrete packages of measures to accelerate the imperative restructuring. If the transformation really is to succeed, we have to enter into a social contract for innovation, in the form of a new kind of discourse between governments and citizens, both within and beyond the boundaries of the nation state.
lots to read "besides" yesterday and more to come ! so stay tuned and check this press-release by the WBGU: [link]

It is a tradition and ceremony with the first Peace Bell ringing at the UN in New York in 1978.
But the tradition dates back much earlier. Equinox Earth Day is celebrated exactly the same minute around the globe. We unfortunately had to add 12 hours to the bell ringing ceremony, even when we observed the midnight time individually, as such a gesture to be observed well, subsuming and resonating in the present moment can not be done with the media and dignities in the middle of the night in a park.
Exactly 40 years ago the UN Secretary General U-Thant, with his Under-Secretary General Robert Muller, and World renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead, International Chairman of Earth Day were celebrating the 2nd Equinox Earth Day, which was started in September 1969, when the City of San Francisco endorsed the proposal a first mentioning of a Day of People of the Earth was proclaimed by "WE". Who is "WE" ? the Earth trustees starting with TrusteeOne, John McConnell who with Margarte Mead and many others from these days were looking early in resuming and resonating in Harmony with Nature.
Minutes of Peace are celebrated since 1963 and even earlier the "Star of Hope" was "launched" in 1957.

It is since last year the "YEAR of the YOUTH", but will it get a voice?, will it use the voice wisely and allow Unity in Diversity?, concert and jam-session of unique differences forming a whole? We have more on the agenda this year ! Some virtual or real meet-ups in NEW YORK ! [link] or at Cyprus the Future Worlds Center [link] where look into deliberation and dialogue design [link] !!
PLEASE see also ACT BEYOND BORDERS:
I feel you should check-out both sites in depth !! - carefully, as they are very dear to me and my work and might provide some avenues... for shared possible positive futures... for all decent livening things with needs, but not greeds...
Last not least I mention and highlight in my presentation (start with slide 19) [link] two persons: Wilhelm Ripl and Haiko Pieplow - and have done so elsewhere.... their work reconnects usto WATER and SOIL - most important as you see from the topic at GYC and my work, many entries in this blog.

All today we hear about Fukushima, and much deja-vue comes up from Tschernobyl 25 years ago.
Present concern is just if "we" the "Nation" is inflicted. Same liek teh discussions long ago: Are we lifing on the right side of the mountains? so the radioactive rains and wind to nt "hit" us... ?
Where are we, when will we learn to see the broader picture, a picture beynd the me and locol now position, and confronting the responsibilities and scales involved?
I wonder...
and have mentioned Tschernobyl in this blog here: [link]

Last night, before the CeBIT was opened the 25th time
[link] and IBM celebrated 100 years ... we all had a chance to meet "WATSON" [link], lady chancellor Merkel form Germany, president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from Turkey, all were at awe watching Watson answering questions from nowhere from all subjects and regions. The CeBIT will open in a few minutes, so I can check-out myself, see what is new and how concepts serving mankind can benefit from more access to more data and information. I was thinking immediately about DROPPING KNOWLEDGE [link] - so let us see if we can find orientation and wisdom for positive ends... [link] see also PROBLEMA: [link] see (more) below !! More >
This is Heiner Benking's News Log, a private-public diary presenting events, symposia and happenings in Berlin and elsewhere - my farings, foci, issues and concerns.
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS PERSONAL BLOG an ARTISTIC and PERFORMATIVE MEDIA INTERVENTION !
The Log links to my work and interests and presents issues and special concern of maybe a very small group of "concerned, engaged generalist" - a Global Interest Group (GIG). This needs to be seen in contrast to the ubiquitous Specialized Interest Groups (SIGs), the "scientific" approach to organize subject areas and specialization and standardization and harmonization! of means, nomenclatures, and modes of thinking. My favorite stories in the WHOLENESS SEMINAR include:
BELA BANATHY: "GENESIS
OF GENERAL SYSTEMS THEORY" and "IVAN HAVEL: Longing for Unified Knowledge" where a "specialist" runs into the founding session of the early foundations General Systems, mumbling "this is not my field" or where Ivan M. Havel expresses his search for other kinds of knowledge.
As a starter I also recommend to check my MINDPRINT site, where we add the need for HANDPRINTS and MINDPRINTS, as FOOTPRINTS are good to visualize and communicate numbers, densities or consumption per area, but are not sufficient to negotiate and "harmonize" across domains and communicate gains in different cultures, technologies, times,... in short: incompatible but relevant information and our work on dialog, peace, policy-making, and multi-modal, faceted issues and consequences.
What am I? This is a "well-packed" question for which I have not the or a single answer. Some called me an in-betweener, go-getter, facilitator, hub, marvel-hero, trim-tab, bricoleur, bricoleers??? - career designeer, .... Some even "hank" which I disliked or Story which I liked very much !!
I have no single answer as I feel we need to walk the talk and sing and dance Life ! in spectra and fields in multiple embodied spaces.
To nebulous an answer? I am sorry but I do not go for overclaims and oversimplifications, under-complex and over-simplistic approaches with clan-think mindsets about real issues in clear contexts!
