Israel's Shiri Maimon got into the top ten at the Eurovision Semi-Finals.
Her dress was exquisite, as always. Israel always does well in its couture. The song was a song, in my opinion, but sung well with plenty of heart.

Since the announcement that evacuation of Gaza is definitely taking place, a few events have occurred.
For one thing, there have been more bombs fired on the Western Negev. Sderot, the town that has suffered a number of rocket blasts has been back on the receiving line.
Last evening, the explosion was very loud as I sat here in my kibbutz house, and we're located too far from Sderot to hear what's going on there.
I'm not sure where the rocket landed, the papers won't give out that much detail to the attackers, but no casualties were reported so chances are that it landed in fields very close to us.
Another event is the Gush Katifnikim trying to rally support for not leaving. Are they insane? They should have left years ago, way before the country voted them to get out. They've been in the middle of a quagmire for so many years, intentionally sticking their thorn-selves into the sides of people who want their land returned.
So driving home from Be'er Sheva, we passed a group of religious kids trying to convince drivers to tie an orange crepe paper streamer on their radio antennae to show solidarity.
Unbelievable! Don't they get it? The fool's paradise is long over. We must get out of there and fast, before Israel finds itself encumbered any longer by the facts of this ludicrous geographical blunder.

David L. Cohen, my partner's uncle, passed away a little less than 2 years ago, after just having completed years of research concerning the land of Israel and those who claim possession.
After presenting it to an active discussion group in Camden, Maine, he was editing his work as I showed up for a visit. He agreed to allow me to upload it to the Net. I was adamant that so much work should be available to a wider audience.
This is a long article, but his research is valuable, specially in the light of recent discussions on *!* Sparticle's log and questions raised about ancestral claims to the land of Israel.
