Anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews Demonstrate at so-called Israel Day Parade
June 1, 2003
On Sunday, June 1, 2003 beginning at 11:15 am at 5th Ave. and 59th St. in Manhattan there will be a group of anti-Zionist Jews demonstrating against Zionism and the Zionist State that will be celebrated by marchers in their so-called Israel Day Parade.
The Anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews will proclaim their loyalty to pure Judaism and their opposition to Zionist heresy, which violates every principle of the Jewish religion. These people shall proclaim that the idolatrous Zionist ideology has no role in the life of an Orthodox Jew, and that Jews are obligated by Judaism to live in peace and harmony with every other people throughout the world, including of course, the native Palestinian People.
Pure Judaism proclaims that we are to accept the decree of Exile of G-d and live among the nations in every corner of the Earth, and are not to establish a State and attempt to end the divinely ordained Exile.
Pure Judaism forbids the uprooting of the indigenous people of the Holy Land, it proclaims its principles of humanity and justice that demands the total restoration of all human, civil, economic and political rights of the Palestinians, including the right of return of all Palestinians to their homes in historic Palestine, thereby enabling Palestine to be governed by its original native inhabitants.
These principles are essential ingredients of Judaism, and no amount of Zionism brainwashing of many Jews throughout the world and Zionist media propaganda can ever do away with these eternal principles. We declare to all non-Jews who believe that support for Zionist idolatry and ethnic cleansing demonstrates sympathy for the Jewish People that this is a grave error!!
We beseech all well-meaning non-Jews to understand the truth of what Judaism teaches, and we encourage our fellow Jews to resist the incessant hysterical and paranoia-filled propaganda of the Zionists, their heresy and their xenophobia, and learn the truth of what Judaism is and what Zionism is.
Those of us who oppose Zionism express true compassion for the Jewish People because we address the ROOT CAUSE of the suffering in the Holy Land inasmuch as Zionism is the cause of bloodshed in the Middle East and hatred of Jews throughout the world. More >

In the best of all possible worlds...
no one lives in luxury
until everyone has nutritious food,
adequate clothing,
and a home where they are safe
In the best of all possible worlds...
no one would spend even one dollar to promote his image
while children starve to death
are bombed to death
and murdered
In the best of all possible worlds...
caring for the needs of innocent child would be the primary image everyone strives for
This is because
children are the ones who will one day care for the elderly
This is because
without caring for the children
you are sabotaging your own future
This is because
to provide for the needs of children
physically, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, socially
will cause them to bloom into the most magnificent human beings possible
Provide for the children's needs
first and foremost
Encourage them, challenge them, sing and dance with them,
laugh with them, question them
and you will have the best of all possible worlds

Better than a card deck of wanted Iraqi officials, here's now the War Profiteer Card Deck. It exposes some of the real war criminals in George W's war on terror. Spades: oil, gas, energy. Hearts: US government officials. Clubs: military/defense contractors. Diamonds: heads of industry, media, policy, and hype. Via Karen Marcelo at BoingBoing. More >

The scorpion is carved into Rock
Which serves as a throne
or chair of authority.
The tail is the symbol
Of the obsidian knife of sacrifice.
There are eighteen clusters
Of stalks, all of which save one
Is bound with a ribbon.
Within a cycle of eclipses,
Which may last for several hundred or a thousand years,
An eclipse returns every eighteen years,
to a place a third of the way around the planet,
and every fifty-four years,
returns to nearly the place of its previous occurrence,
with a small but noticeable shift in latitude.
The rope of continuity
Extends or emerges from
The body of this creature.

Unbalanced, in motion,

God has given you everything
in order for you to create
anything
you choose,
any experience,
any life,
any world,
anything
Consider the billions of civilizations that have risen and fallen over the aeons of time, each one with their own beliefs, values, and goals, and each one just as seemingly valid and yet just as fragile as this great modern society we have now.
We can create any economic system we want. I recommend we ditch this one that's destroying our life-support system - our Earth, poisoning our water, and polluting our air... it's made the billionaires insane with greed and exploits the suffering of the masses. There are alternatives to this mental sickness. We can stop deluding one another into believing that the value of our possessions signifies the value of our personal life. To own and possess more, doesn't make your life more worthy than those who have less. Quite the contrary, there seems to be some response-ability on the part of those who own more.
We stop believing that by owning *more* we *are* more, we begin to value inner happiness, healthy lifestyles, helpful encouraging friendships, which is far more valuable. We can experience the satisfying feeling of growing spiritually and intellectually... we can value brilliance and radiance in one another, in our Mother Earth, and in our universe.
The universe is an intelligent life form.
Do you think the balancing act of the planets and stars is all done just by coincidence, just by the *forces* that happen to exist, just by the weight of the planets? Or does it occur to you that perhaps there is an intelligence that places *balance* at a priority?
Do you assume the universe is not a life form?
Do you assume the universe is not alive, while assuming you are?
How can you assume rocks are dead when you would be dead if it weren't for the iron, magnesium, and other minerals in the rock?
The universe is an intelligent life form.
And I'll tell you something else that is an intelligent life form... Earth... yes, of course, Earth, but there's something else...
Love
You think love is a feeling?
Love is an intelligent being. Love is a kingdom and a realm. Love is a miracle that transcends all things...
(love deserves an article all its own... coming soon)

Mandatory paper trail for the voting process.
New Jersey Congressman Rush Holt introduced a bill to require a mandatory paper trail for the voting process. Voting machines with secret workings do not satisfy the minimal requirements of transparency and verifiability of a democratic process. This is extremely important and Holt needs a great outpouring of support for this. There is no more important issue right now. As Mark Crispin Miller recently put it, "The Democrats could run the most brilliant campaign in history and it wouldn't matter. They could elect Charley Manson president with those machines."
All members of Congress need to hear from their constituents about this. Here is something really meaningful we can do. For the text of the bill, see Representative Rush Holt's website ([link]). To contact your congressperson, see this Congressional Database: [link] The Congressional switchboard number is (202) 224 3121.
To send support to Representative Holt, here is contact info: Honorable Rush Holt United States House of Representatives 1019 Longworth House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20515-3012 DC Phone: 202-225-5801 DC Fax: 202-225-6025 Email Address: [link]

Here is information from the website of Congressman Rush Holt:
ON ELECTION DAY 2004, HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF YOUR VOTE IS PROPERLY COUNTED?
ANSWER: YOU WON’T
Rep. Rush Holt Introduces Legislation to Require All Voting Machines To Produce A Voter-Verified Paper Trail
Washington, DC – Rep. Rush Holt today responded to the growing chorus of concern from election reform specialists and computer security experts about the integrity of future elections by introducing reform legislation, The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2003. The measure would require all voting machines to produce an actual paper record by 2004 that voters can view to check the accuracy of their votes and that election officials can use to verify votes in the event of a computer malfunction, hacking, or other irregularity. Experts often refer to this paper record as a “voter-verified paper trail.”
“We cannot afford nor can we permit another major assault on the integrity of the American electoral process,” said Rep. Rush Holt. “Imagine it’s Election Day 2004. You enter your local polling place and go to cast your vote on a brand new “touch screen” voting machine. The screen says your vote has been counted. As you exit the voting booth, however, you begin to wonder. How do I know if the machine actually recorded my vote? The fact is, you don’t.”…
Key provisions of The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2003 include:
1) Requires all voting systems to produce a voter-verified paper record for use in manual audits and recounts. For those using the increasingly popular ATM-like “DRE”(Direct Recording Electronic) machines, this requirement means the DRE would print a receipt that each voter would verify as accurate and deposit into a lockbox for later use in a recount. States would have until November 2003 to request additional funds to meet this requirement.
2) Bans the use of undisclosed software and wireless communications devices in voting systems.
3) Requires all voting systems to meet these requirements in time for the general election in November 2004. Jurisdictions that feel their new computer systems may not be able to meet this deadline may use an existing paper system as an interim measure (at federal expense) in the November 2004 election.
4) Requires that electronic voting system be provided for persons with disabilities by January 1, 2006 -- one year earlier than currently required by HAVA. Like the voting machines for non-disabled voters, those used by disabled voters must also provide a mechanism for voter-verification, though not necessarily a paper trail. Jurisdictions unable to meet this requirement by the deadline must give disabled voters the option to use the interim paper system with the assistance of an aide of their choosing.
5) Requires mandatory surprise recounts in 0.5% of domestic jurisdictions and 0.5% of overseas jurisdictions.

Back from New York. Got some good work done with Britt Blaser on xpertweb, working through the steps of a functioning prototype. The picture there is from last night. Hanging out with Britt and Doc Searls, having a splendid time talking about geeky stuff and playing with computers. Doc mentions it here. He is in town to check out the state of publically available WiFi in New York. Which is pretty damned great. Wireless access in a number of parks, from many businesses who want to make customers feel at home, and from many individuals who've just left their networks open.
If you somehow don't know who Doc Searls is, he's co-author of Cluetrain Manifesto, senior editor of Linux Journal, and general Über-Blogger. I'm impressed by the effortlessness of his blogging approach. He just sort of wam-bam zips in and posts a few sentences, using an outliner for the content of the day, while he's on the phone and answering e-mail and having a conversation, all at the same time. I'm not sure I would be able to do it like that, but I can certainly see the point. Answer your e-mail in public, as he describes it. I personally tend to need to switch into some kind of Inspired Quest mode before it flows for me. But, hey, maybe his routine day every day IS an Inspired Quest, I don't know. More >
