A consortium of media companies commissioned a recount of all Florida ballots in the U.S. presidential race. No matter which standard is used for the recount, Gore comes out ahead, but only with between 42 and 171 votes, depending on the method. However, ironically, if only the counties had been recounted that Gore asked for, Bush would still have won. The analysis of the effect of the several seriously misleading ballots showed that Gore lost out of many thousands of votes that were meant for him, but that were misplaced for other candidates because of the design of the ballots. Interestingly, most all of the media companies are downplaying the clear results of this study, presenting it in their headlines as if Bush still would have won, but revealing the opposite in the details of their articles, except for a couple of them who seem to add things up differently. A satellite made by some students in a Naval Academy, for far less than the usual cost, using mostly components from Radio Shack, has been launched and is still working well, serving radio amateurs across the world. Even its builders are somewhat surprised that it worked. Instead of a $50,000 antenna system, the group used a metal tape measure. See article. More >

Ancient Egyptian symbols or hieroglyphics have turned up in some unexpected places. Are these ancient egyptian hieroglyphics truely egyptian in nature or where they learned by the Egyptians from another source? If they are truely an Egyptain design, why is it that hieroglyphics, extremely simular to the egyptain symbols have been found all over the world. Many of these older then the scienctific community states Egypt to be. Instead of looking to Atlantis for answers, should we be looking beyond Atlantis? Have UFO's played a part in our ancient past? This question has been brought up many times before. Did we really take the time to ponder it? Or just brush it off subconsiously as impossible? More >

YES! My wireless computer connectivity is coming back. I had been a subscriber to Ricochet, which went bankrupt a few months ago, and which had a very reliable, wireless 128kbps service within the major metropolitan areas of the U.S. Meaning I could be online in airports, on the freeway, or whatever. And when it disappeared there were no comparable alternatives left. Now the $1 billion assets of the Ricochet network have been bought by Aerie Networks for 8 million and it looks like they'll turn the thing on again shortly, and at a lower price. And it sounds like the new people will know how to market it. Ricochet was a well-kept secret in the hands of the old company, Metricom, which apparently had no clue on how to let people know it existed. More >

"How to Tell if a Dogma is Friendly" by Swami Beyondananda
... Yes, it's a dogma-eat-dogma world out there, filled with pit bulls whose bull pits them against other dogmas. And while
we might be tempted to raise a stick to these bad dogmas, any
dogma-trainer will tell you that you cannot train a dogma to
be loving and obedient by beating it. To win a dogma's heart,
offer it a treat. Say, "Good dogma. Sit. Roll over ... heal."
Now of course it's sad but true that when a dogma is foaming at the mouth and is clearly rabid, it must be put down before it infects other innocent creatures. Even the most sentimental
dogma-lover understands that. So to help us all, I have divided dogmas into two categories: Angry, unfriendly FundaMENTALIST dogmas, and the happier, more friendly FUNdamentalist ones.
FundaMENTAList FUNdamentalist
*Accent on the mental.... Accent on the fun.
*Heaven is aboveus....... Heaven is where you make it.
*Ours is the One Way..... One Way? Do not enter!
*Laughter is frowned upon...Frowning is laughed upon.
*Vow of chastity. ..........Vow of levity.
*An eye for an eye......... Live and let live.
*You stone people...........People get stoned on their own.
Now the good news is, even the baddest dogma can change
simply by changing their emPHAsis to another sylLABle. And
to help teach these dogmas to heal, I am launching a Blisskrieg to warm the heart of even the most fearful and angry dogma. And we begin by kindling the spark of peace in our hearts and turning it into a bright flame. Then we share this spark of peace to light everyone and everything we come in contact with. It's a fight to the life! We will light them on the land, we will light them on the sea, we will light them in the air! We will even shine the light of love and laughter into their caves!
And maybe with enough light, enough of us will get so
frustrated with the stupidity of dogma-fighting, we'll just
surrender and say, "Ah, peace on it!" And with a little peace
here and a little peace there, who knows? We may end up with
one Big Peace everywhere, and both Nonjudgment Day and
Disarmaggedon will come to pass.
