Yo World...
Well what it boils down to is that
THE NORM IS NO LONGER SUSTAINABLE so in order to mitigate such the following may be of value and meaning:

- $3.00 per liter gas and a 25% royalty to Gov
- 10% of the seats in the House of Commons for the environment
- a global cap on population at 7 billion people + or - 250 million
- a global cap on automobiles at 800 million + or - 25 million
- posting of green bonds of $1 billion for potentiality environ
damage projects,
- climate instability insurance policies,
- ban of autos for those under age of 35,
- Subsidies and tax breaks to renewable energies and pubic
transportation
- Tax breaks to green companies
- LEED and ISO 9000 & 14000 Standards
- Fines and imprisonment and restorative justice consequences for
ecocrimes and torts
- Green Certification of Products and Services
- Bicycles and walking

The events in the Eurozone are now getting to be more alarming. Forecasters are now claiming that another round of recession is in the offing, as the bubble burst that began in Greece will spread to Spain, Ireland, and other member-states of the EU.
Will liberal capitalism continue to live a life that seems to hang in the balance? Or will capitalism need to restore itself through totalitarian means? What’s so wrong with the system that it just can’t be sustained enough? More >

Eurozone is burning. Before the flames would reach infernal levels, the contagion effects thereof burning the other regions of the globe, a global financial conference should be convened most urgently. More >

Yo humans
I guess my reasoning for not wrecking the environment and climate in the first place, is that in so doing, we don't know how to fix it when broken, as we don't even understand it when not. The interdependence of the environment and humans and climate is such that for our own sake we must thread lightly upon it and hence ourselves less we desire not life and living itself and if such is the case all or many such humans should be aborted from the start.
Though I suppose we throughout the generations are slowly learning of this interdependence which we thus must pass on to the knowledge and understanding to those of the future. It is not thus merely a quaint ideological sentiment this love and regard for the environment but the sentiment of survival of the enlightened and aware.

See my comments this Memorial Day on the outrageous criminal activities of the fbi/cia,et al against veterans, even as Gary Sinise parades about in pretentious concern for our suffering vets.
----------------------
This Memorial Day is day of National Disgrace for the corrupt USA's treatment of its own war veterans and for this nation's phony wars on the people of the world. The so-called "GOP Savior" Gary Sinise should stop insulting the veterans with his pretense of concern for them, especially as many suffer from unlawful assaults & mistreatment by the thugs of the government of the United States of America (i.e.: the fbi/cia assassins).
See my reports on this subject as follows: The intel services (fbi/cia) force suicide on some veterans with the full knowledge of VA. Other veterans prefer death to a padded cell or jail. In any event , Gary Sinise, stop the charade that USA cares for and has patience with its veterans. You are an actor, Gary, now playing politician on the backs of injured and killed veterans. Your silly ads are sadly laughable to all knowledgeable vets.

"If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in bloom,
maybe your soul has never been in bloom." - Terri Guillemets
Not long ago, the tangled branches of the lilac outside my window, were highlighted with snow. Through the long winter I watched and waited until life returned and the buds began to swell.
Now heavy with blossom and basking in the glorious sunshine, today, the sweet scent of lilacs reached into me through my open window and called me outside. . .
I am thinking of the lilac-trees, That shook their purple plumes, And when the sash was open, Shed fragrance through the room. - Anna S. Stephens
Lilac grows up into the endless blue of the sky a splash of colour added to the vast palette of greens.
Here comes the time when, vibrating on its stem, every flower fumes like a censer; noises and perfumes circle in the evening air. - Charles Baudelaire
Outside the air is heavy with perfume, the huge purple bush is laden with flowers and the tall white lilac trees are magnificent reaching up into the endless blue, blue, sky.
The warmth of the sun, the buzzing of the bees and the sweet scent of lilac everywhere . . .
My lilac trees are old and tall;I cannot reach their bloom at all. They send their perfume over trees And roof and streets, to find the bees. - Lousie Driscoll, 1875 - 1957

Yesterdays eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano called back lasting memories, a story from 1988, where in the press conference Prof. Degens was not ready to paint a icture a lasting nightmare of an overheated planet or ice-age planet.
The media pushed hard but he refused to paint a nighmare scenario, as this would not be science he said roughly, the media should look back in earth history and make out there own conclusion, he only mentioned later that new might be only the degree of possible rapid change.
For people in environmental research this is obvious if we think twice, but it was for the media something they angrily commented: Scientists not telling what to expect and what is going on !
Now 22 year later this looks funny, now we know, even created possible ceilings and guard rails, as politics were more demanding than media, to have scientist do the forecast or outlook requested. But what is this IPCC knows and can predict the Future, specially when there are obviously only futures in plural and can not be predicted Neither in natural nor in social and cultural human worlds !
This is not a contrarian view ! I was reading with Ernst Ulrich von Weiszsäcker about CONTRARIANS already in the late 80ies, when he was in Bonn and Brussels, about these denying "CONTRARIANS" who refused to consider man-made impacts - on this considered stable and endless system of Planet Earth !
What an ignorance ! please see this article soon hitting the streets: "ignorance or compassion" [link] or the work on GLOBAL CHANGE we introduced in late May 1990. Please wait for May 30th "Challenges to Science and Politics" touring exhibition.
At this point I can only link to the exhibition [link] and EARTH IN TROUBLE ! [link] and check Human Dimensions and Human Responsibility with time and space horizons (Hans Jonas)http://benking.de/jonas-1993.html , as this is the time, likt with Mount StHelen where we can experience natures ! non-point polution impacts!
Why I call this piece? Last call / Final Calling ? Because I think we should follow up on this question: Do we need "New Science, new Language, new Thinking ?
HOW ABOUT? OLD and proven, traditional and NEW Thinking and Doing and Sharing ? [link]
please come back later - we had challenging days these days and years and need to step back, consider deep and other questions and answers
Meanwhile follow the links and consider what the founder of this encyclopedia of systems and cybernetics said about complexity, surprise and predictability when we introduced the new edition:
[link] and maybe these concepts to consider being concrete and share common frames and schemas: [link]
In Santa Fe we learned that the more we study complexity, the more we are perplexed ! So let us step back, check the issues and context and not not consider we know whne we do not ! - or just need to meet at certain number to be safe and can continue to muddle trough as always, all heads deeep in the sands, fogs, dust, ashes....
Finally, what we experience today is not the last call ! Nature as icon in time has experienced much worse in times, but humanity is getting more fragile ever day, so we have to be on the watch on the proportions and consequences, the potential infliction of suffering. [link]

(The following is a response to several inquiries in the past few months)
Wiki sez:
"Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a process developed by Marshall Rosenberg. It is a way to communicate with greater compassion and clarity. It focuses on two things: honest self-expression — exposing what matters to oneself in a way that's likely to inspire compassion in others, and empathy — listening with deep compassion. One central tenet of nonviolent communication (also called "compassionate communication") is that everything a human being does (whether benign or hurtful) is an attempt to meet their human needs. NVC postulates that conflict between individuals or groups is a result of miscommunication about these needs, often because of coercive language or manipulative language (e.g., inducing fear, guilt, shame, praise, blame, duty, obligation, punishment, or reward)." [link]
Sounds good? Alright. What's new? (Actually, can there be anything new on Communication, Science and Sanity after Korzybski???)
It seems that social customs in our times is at such a low level that people rush to register for a course in behaviour adjustment that should be plain obvious and the (very!) good news is that the movement actually finds a lot of followers and 'certified trainers'. Communications, on the Internet in especially, occurs mostly in a vicious and poisonous mode and those who claim to 'educate others' are often the worst culprits in expressions unworthy for educated people.
The success of a course like that makes one wonder, though. How come one needs a seminar to learn what should be the 'norm'?
Theory and praxis are two things and even though there are models of communication more concise and encompassing (spare me the long list, plz!), and 'training the basics' and APPLYING it in daily life is priceless.
Again, any decent mode communication can be found compatible with the rules of NVC, called fittingly the OFNR process model, so by all means, I encourage everybody to become a CVNC Certified Trainer as well.
Wiki sez further:
"The NVC model has three or four steps depending on the mode of use.
1. Observation
2. Feelings
3. Needs
4. Request (optional, depending on mode)
The two modes of use of the NVC model are
1. empathy, including both self-empathy, and empathy for another, and
2. honest self-expression, including "please" (request) and "thank you" (gratitude)"
[end of quote]
This is great, when applied. Yet some of the crucial parts of miscommunication are missing: failure to answer-up (acknowledge) in an adequate timeframe, jumping abstraction levels, and interruption of a communication in process.
Of course, if we would integrate those two points into the OVNR, most TV talk shows would be classified as 'violent'.
How can one learn obviously sane behaviour patterns?
Skywork, a group process to access the collective subconscious layers, often called the 'morphogenetic field', is based on the rules above, including the 'expanded model', plus a few others. We can witness and testify how the basic sanity of communication in action. We can SEE, FEEL, and UNDERSTAND that a sane communication is a crucial part in solving problems, whether in individual problems or group conflicts. Skywork APPLIES these principles, plus a few others, to do this and in the process the participants can incorporate them into their own strategies and patterns of success in life.
In other words, instead of TALKING about it, Skywork group processing is the faster route to actually ADAPTING the principles of sane communication in daily life.
(The first, immediate comment to above:)
My friend Bruce [link], one of the most Korzybski [link] experts I know of and his official biographer (stay tuned for the release in 2010!!), lauded&upgraded my blurb thus:
"The problem with old wisdom is to make it new in one's life and practice. What makes wisdom timeless is that it is always timely."
