For this particular note, Ra, messenger & forthcoming Guardian, will focus on the subject of philosophy and its general discourse. Philosophy as of late has deteriorated to a fragmentary discourse with no particular directional compass, a situation that will be trashed to the dustbins soon. More >

Being an islander in Asia, born a Filipino, I was taught humility as a sublime virtue. As I grew up, I found out that humility is a cross-cultural virtue, taught by sages and gurus of the Teaching. As a lad, I had great love for erudite yet humble persons, and had deep scorn for braggarts and arrogant persons. More >

My beloved country remembers the late Franklin Delano Roosevelt very well. It was his presidency that paved the way for preparing the Philippines as an independent state, by first granting the country the status of a commonwealth with its own constitution (1935 Constitution), and by permitting such domestic government to prepare the legislative measures and policy environment for a future independent state (granted independence in 1946). Nutrition-related issues and problems in the Philippines constitute a long list. Among all the related issues and problems, hunger stands out as the most highlighted today. While there is no question about highlighting hunger and addressing it with determination, over-focusing on this single issue tends to mask the other issues involved.
Among the emerging issues and problems in nutrition, I would handily pinpoint obesity as the most focal. Needless to say, it challenges development stakeholders to highlight the issue as well, and address it on the same level as hunger is being addressed today. Addressing it would mean resorting to public policy tools, strategies and programs at a national level, and creating necessary institutional frames to accelerate the problem’s solution. More >

Those more aware fellows on Earth may be reflecting right now about the long-term agenda of the global oligarchy regarding population. We note the rise of the neo-Malthusians within and outside the UN and international bodies from the 70s onwards, their position buttressing the toxic ‘greenies’ demonization of humans as the cause of the planet’s predicament.
The greenies’ and Malthusian’s causes do tie up, as they are among the paid Pied Pipers of the global oligarchy for the long-term agenda of depopulating the planet. The global elite’s disdain of masses of humans, who they refer to as ‘useless Eaters’, do make sense when we reflect about the wars, pandemics, induced cyclones and earthquakes, and many more phenomena that tend to reduce the populations en masse at any given instance. The Law of Reciprocity posits: “Do for others what you want them to do for you.” A sacrosanct low in all spheres of existence, it is fully substantiated in the conduct of devotion. More >

We live in a world of ‘rat race’, working in order to gain money and ensue with daily survival. After decades of laboring, work itself becomes a drudgery rather than a matter of joy as we ought to be living a life as co-creator of the Almighty Providence. At the age of late middle age, the ‘retirement syndrome’ seeps through the psyche, sapping the energies and morale of the person. More >

Pakistan and India are now on the verge of another war, one that will extend the frontiers of a brewing World War III to the South Asian corridor. Many are befuddled by the events in the region, the continuing animosities among the erstwhile ‘sibling’ neighbors, the latest terror attack on Mumbai, and more to come. Many in India and Pakistan still think that the hostilities are rooted in the Hindu-Islam competition, and/or in the lack of foresight of Nehru for approving the partition plan. Never do they bother at all to reflect about external forces, notably British financier oligarchs, that were responsible for that very faulty partition. More >

I never ceased to marvel over songbirds perched on trees nearby my residence, their songs serving as balms that can sooth inner wounds. As part of divine grace on Terra, we are o! so blessed with so many songbirds. In the early morning, they role-play as my alarm clock, wakening me through their sweet melodies. More >

In 1989, my provocative essay titled “On The Somnambulism of the Filipino” began to circulate in diverse publications. I cogitated then that the Filipino suffers from a collective somnambulism, which explains the lack of directional sense of purpose of our countrymen. To salve the ailment, a Filipino Renaissance must be waged, which will see the explosive innovations in the sciences, philosophy, and the arts. Thanks heavens, the Renaissance has begun, as manifested by (a) thousands of patents and copyrights registered every year and (b) by very noble works in all human endeavors. More >
