Right. We need to find a mode where we can both encompass common values and
an all-inclusive whole systems perspective AND the privately held beliefs
and preferences. Without a need for convincing each other that our private
beliefs are "wrong".
We will often run into conflicts and arguments when we try to push our
beliefs and views on everybody else. Even if we strongly believe them to be
true and factual and proven.
A practical consideration here. There are several threads goin on in
parallel here, with somewhat different, somewhat overlapping lists of
participants.
There is a discussion in the PersonCo group about what constitutes a new
civilization individual, what is the make-up of a person who will interface
with others in a sane and productive way, while being true to his own
personal values.
There is a discussion in the TeamWork group about what system elements are
needed to form a foundation for learning together and networking
effectively.
And there is this thread, which started with some argumentation about some
statements from the Venus Project.
My concern is that people are part of the discussions they want to be part
of and not having to sit in on what they don't choose to focus on. I am not
sure if everybody copied on these messages are interested in them, or
turned off by them.
So, I suggest either a more specific focus on this discussion, beyond
arguing about our disagreements, OR, to shift it into the PersonCo
discussion on what kind of person we need in a new civilization.
There is no need for us all to agree with the principles used in the Venus
Project, or the validity or not of certain facts, scientific or otherwise.
I'd like to hear once in a while about what is going on with the Venus
Project, what principles it is based on, and what has been found to work or
not.
The main thing is to get on with the work, without having to argue about
the details. Unless a mutual, focused resolution of differences is found to
be productive.
