NCN: online conference planned

I would like to try some more interactive ways for us to relate to each other.

The IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is one scheme that allows real-time
interaction. The majority of you will probably be able to access an IRC
server through your online access provider.

In IRC you type messages on your computer and they are instantly received
by everybody who are on the same channel. It can sometimes look confusing,
as several things might be going on at the same time, but it also allows
for more direct interaction than e-mail can, and sometimes surprising
synergy comes out of it.

Tentatively I will suggest Sunday, October 8th, at 9 A.M in the morning,
U.S. Pacific Standard Time for an on-line meeting.

I would guess that would allow people from most parts of the world to
participate. If anybody has a drastically better time slot to suggest, let
me know.

The theme of this first conference will be

"How do we get there from here?"

I will act as the moderator for now, and we will try to keep the meeting
within a one hour duration.

I will follow up with more detailed instructions, but for now the plan is
to set up an IRC channel called 'ncn' with the password 'tolerance'.
