I believe that we exist as the bridge between the Spiritual and the Material.
We are both spirit and matter, and we exist in an evolving universe. We have
three "eyes" with which we can view the world: the "eye of the flesh" which is
personified by science; the "eye of the mind" which we see in psychology or
math; and the "eye of spirit" which expresses through the mystical.
I believe that spiritual knowing lies beyond the rational, is
trans-rational, but not anti-rational. Rather, it transcends the logical
mind, but includes it. Therefore, I believe the direction of any new
civilization must be forward, to the trans-rational, and not backward,
toward the mythic or magical, as is so often seen in Romantic philosophy.
I believe each of us is a channel for God, acting in the world, and that we
need to find better ways to allow that spiritual energy to flow through us.
God is present in the world because we are present. Now, as we move toward
a new civilization, we need to discover ways to tap into the spiritual
wisdom need to guide us; for we already have the spiritual power. Through
our sciences, we have become like gods, with power over life and death.
What we lack is the wisdom of God to use that power to transform society
and the earth. I hope, in some small way, to assist in that process, and
that my involvement in the New Civilization Network will allow me that

I finally think I found what I was looking for. I was seriously
considering starting a similar venture as "Civilization Network".
Today is my birthday (27 Dec 95) and my girlfriend told me to do her
a favour and do something productive tonight. So I found this!
You see I've been very restless these last few months. I've been
working as an administration officer and a 2i/c in the largest
bureaucracy in Canada - the Government - in Department of National
Defence in Air Command in a land equipment maintenance workshop on an
air force base. I knew I was working in the wrong way. Also, I knew we
as a global community were generally living in the wrong way. My
dissatisfaction led to intensive soul searching and dreams of a large
network of interconnected humans who work for the betterment of each
other and the whole of humanity (actually, all life). My dreams
started to reach complexity beyond my capacity to recollect, so I
began to write and read associated lituriture (Frontiers of
Complexity, Shadows of the Mind, The Physics of Immortality, etc). I
also recognized that interconnectivity, autonomous freedoms,
humanistic values and visability was the key to my vision so I started
to learn more about computer programming (java), networks (linux), and
interpersonnal relationships (Celestine Prophosies). I've also started
to change my heart through my mind. I've emphasized both my logical
and humanistic awareness and I've begun too look for ways of changing
the world one step at a time. I could go on for ever. I feel like I'm
on the brink of an exciting cultural revolution which has brought us
immortality in the future. I will not be happy (and my girl friend
knows this better than anyone) until I focus my energies on my vision
which I've only begun to describe. I am however working at a
stressfull full-time job and I still owe over 3 years obligatory
service. So my energies are still quite tied up and I'm
correspondingly still depressed (but optomistic). My plan is to quit
the Canadian Forces and then learn, work and express myself for the
rest of my life. Work will diminish to the benifit of self expression
ultimately. And learning will ultimately be decentralized such that
it will become my chosen influences and such influences that have
chosen me. It's now 0539 am. I have to sleep. I hope we can talk.
