I have been thinking for many years about the process of accelerating
change and what is causing it. Although their may be a general
accelerating trend going back even before the modern era, there seems
to have been a marked speed up in the process beginning shortly before
the development of movable type circa 1450, which itself was a
commercially driven response to the perceived need for more efficient
information production.
I am working on the thesis that there is something inherently
information driven about the process of acceleration of change -- that
new information technologies lead to dramatic increases in the
production of information which in and of itself feeds accelerating
change and the development of new information and new information
technologies which in turn lead to more information and more change,
and so forth.
There are clearly many issues to be explored and I am just beginning
to look at them. I'm not wedded to the idea of self-sustaining
accelerating of information, information technologies and change, but
there does seem to be some sort of phenomenon occurring along these
lines. I'd very much like to connect with others who are exploring
this area.
A second related idea I am exploring from a quasi-spiritual standpoint
is that I believe that there is some sort of natural process or order
underlying the accelerating evolution of intelligent life on earth
that probably holds true for any planet. If indeed there are natural
laws governing evolution in general why wouldn't there be laws
governing the evolution of intelligent species? What does seem clear
is the direction of human evolution, as with the evolution of life and
even the development of atomic structures and the constituents of
life, is toward progressively greater levels of integrated complexity,
which would seem to be the opposite of random chaos. If this is true,
then the accelerating pace of change in human planetary society is in
fact a move to ever greater order as well as complexity, rather than
toward random disordered unpredictability. I'm not sure whether all
of this follows, but would be interested in hearing other ideas about
this area.

This community could exchange goods with other communities around the
world. But no need for money, only trust and the desire to help would
guide theses exchanges.
This community would also be open to any stranger who would like to
visit for a day, a week, a year, as long as he wish to. Again no money
needed as the visitors would pay his stay by working with the
community for the length of his stay.
Lots of activities could go on in a place like that such as
meditation, music and dancing, classes on any disciplines, artcraft
and so on. And of course we would have the internet to communicate
with the rest of the world.
This seems kind of utopic to me, don't know when and how this could

I just wanted to add that Ken Wilbur is one of my favourite authors these
days. I am very interested in linking up with people who are interested in
our changing world from a humanistic point of view. I like the stated
intention of this group. My views about the world had been quite
traditional until a few years ago when I realized that business as usual is
a recepie for disaster for me personally and at all levels. I also
realized, only very recently, that for most of my life I have had a kind of
"default" to government. Like many others of my generation I have thought
that somehow government would solve everything. So I have been close to
government - active in the back rooms of policy-making bodies at the
national and international level for years. In the end, it has been this
experience that has helped me see that while government is a very necessary
vehicle, it is really "democracy" and not government where my default
should lie. This initiative seems profoundly democratic to me.

I would submit that food comes before philosophy. First you have to
eat. This means that the science of everyday living must be the first
focus of attention. This should be economics, but that study has

Classical Political Economy deals with people, not with graphs and

living, how they cooperate.
Perhaps the most important aspects of political economy are how people
value, and how ownership is established. Some things must be held
privately, some others fall naturally into common ownership.

I really enjoy working with people to help them REMEMBER who and
what they really are...Spiritual Beings having human experiences.
It is also important to me to expose how we have been held captive
by our "need" to be acceptable to others and manipulated by guilt
and shame tactics by our parents, peers, governments and religions.
The self-recrimination that has resulted from this abuse has
kept humans prisoner of self-rejection for at least as far back as
written history. Once we can free ourselves from self-judgment,
and real-ize Love is the perfect joy, we can begin to live as intended.
