NCN Group News #3, October 97

From: Flemming Funch (ffunch@newciv.org)
Date: Wed Nov 26 1997 - 23:55:34 PST

This is the issue of the NCN Group newsletter that was meant to be
distributed in October. Because of a communication snafu it only got
distributed to a smaller list.

This is the continuation of the NCN Group Channel newsletter that Trudy
Schuett put out earlier. The newsletter is now edited by Bob Ewing
<cclash@web.net>. Send him information about your group activities that can
be included in future newsletters.

       ANNOUNCEMENT:

       Greetings NCN

I have a new business and new projects. I started a
salon/discussion group at Barnes and Noble in Cheyenne,
Wyoming last April. I called the group, The Think Cafe'. The
salon/discussion group gave birth to a radio show...actually, two
radio shows. I did a one hour, Monday through Friday show in
Cheyenne, and a two hour, Sunday show in Laramie, Wyoming.
The Sunday show was much more fun and avant garde.

I did the Sunday show, The Think Cafe' with a co-host, right up until
the time I moved to Colorado last month. I now live in Arvada,
Colorado, and have a new business: High Heart Productions &
Services. I have just agreed to moderate an "open mike" night at
a local cafe'. Using the format of my radio show, I will have live
interviews during the first hour, and then open up to discussion and
questions during the second hour. It should be great fun. Imagine,
sitting in The Abstract Caffe' in Arvada, spending time talking with
people that I love and meeting new people...and getting
       paid for it!

Our discussion nights will be on Monday and Tuesday nights at the
Abstract Caffe' in Arvada, Colorado. If anyone lives in the Metro
Denver area, they can email me at lewis03@mho.net

I got to interview Flemming Funch on my radio show in Laramie...I
was hoping to provide a tape of the show so that Flemming could
have it available on the website. I still will, although I cannot
guarantee the quality of the sound. I have been trying to get them
cleaned up. When my friend in productions in Denver returns from
his travels, he has said that he will clean up some tapes for me.

       Regards,
       Lisa Lewis

       UPDATE:

Dear Bob....I don't know if you have sent anything or posted
anything based on the information I sent to you...but I changed the
name of my business to High Heart Center...Later, Lisa Lewis

       NCN GROUP NEWSLETTER THE WHY.

The idea is to take a close look at what some of you are doing in
terms of group collaboration of any kind, to report on your plans,
your successes, your learnings, etc. We're focusing on group work
because it is one of the essential pieces of NCN to work out how
groups can work well together. So, a group would be defined as
two or more people who are pursuing some kind of project
       together.

What you do together as a group might be a humanitarian project,
       a company, a community, a dialogue meeting, a party, a
ceremony, or whatever you happen to be doing. It doesn't have to
be something "serious". However, of course, for NCN purposes
we're probably most interested in anything that contributes to
making the world a better place, anything that improves the
quality of life somehow, or that at least aims to do so.

                          InterMix Discussion Group System

       Roger Eaton <rogereaton@earthlink.net> of Collective
Communication has for the past year been working with another
programmer on creating an innovative new way of interacting with
each other on-line. The system is called InterMix and the idea is
that it will be available shortly as shareware. You can post
messages on different threads as in a bulletin board. What is new
is that you can rate messages as to how interesting they
are to you and how much you approve of them. You and others
can set up filters for what kind of messages you want to see,
based on ratings or based on a number of other criteria. The
software is still in testing, but give it a spin:

Dialogue (Bohm has written very great stuff on this) differing from
discussion. You probably know all of this...if not let me know and
I shall go on and on and on. The essence of dialogue is
suspending judgement and listening and hearing and seeking to
understand rather than be understood. The idea is that if we all
engage that way..., of course, we shall all understand one another
better. This understanding will help us " walk in each
       other's... shoes...uh..moccasins..."...

Here in Madison, we have several such groups. I was in one
through the Madison Area Quality Improvement Network (MAQIN)
for about three years. It went for as long as these things
apparently go on. We would meet every other Wednesday for 2
hours...and use a question or some reading as a catalyst for
conversation. We started with a facilitator and then evolved to a
point where we just respected one another and reminded each
other about staying on task and seeing where conversation led us
not a person led us. Now I am involved in a couple of groups...one
a Noetic Sciences Madison Chapter and another by the Urban
Campus Ministry here at the University of Wisconsin campus.
Also, I am hosting the International Day of Dialogue here...this is
the second one...the first was last year in October...

         Thanks
       ...Myrna

NASA Determined to Launch Cassini Space Probe
With 72 Pounds of Deadly Plutonium on Board
Scientific and Public Opposition Builds -- Calls for Mission
to be Delayed, Retrofitted with New Solar Technology

On Monday, October 6th, NASA plans to launch a giant Titan IV
rocket from Cape Canaveral, sending its Cassini space probe to
Saturn. But a growing number of engineers, scientists and health
experts -- including some former NASA officials and contractors --
charge that the space agency is unnecessarily playing Russian
       Roulette with millions of lives.

Neither NASA, nor the many experts questioning the safety of
Cassini, disagree on what inhalation of plutonium does to the
human body. Inhaled as toxic dust, less than one millionth of a
gram of plutonium becomes a carcinogenic dose. "One pound, if
evenly distributed," says the prominent anti-nuclear activist Dr.
Helen Caldicott, "could hypothetically induce lung cancer in every
       person on Earth."

Dan Maniel here, AKA Dan Manning

       email: danmanning@ij.net

My group activity consists of simply radiating the thought forms of
LOVE and FORGIVENESS to the Planet and its peoples every
opportunity I can find with others in the world. I assume in my
meditations there are "legions" of others doing the same (and there
ARE). I do this anonymously without any connection (membership)
in any particular organizations, although I got the idea from the
NEW AGE STUDY OF HUMANITY'S PURPOSE, headed by
Patricia Diane Cota-Robles, and GROUP AVATAR, headed by Kay
Eileen Meyer, Although there are many other orgs and churches
doing similar affirmations, visualizations, decrees, etc.

All things begin in thought, of course, and the idea is that as one
candle can disperse many times its volume of darkness, it does
not take a huge percentage of the people on this planet
concentrating on the positive thought forms, holding them,
expanding, and projecting them into the mental realm to have them
precipitate right here. If one would examine this closely, it exactly
why we have the disharmony and imbalance extant today.,

Because this activity is done anonymously ("in one's closet", so to
speak) and it endeavours to re-establish the main two elements of
Heaven on Earth taught by the Master Jesus...UNCONDITIONAL
       LOVE and FORGIVENESS.....some
call themselves SILENT KNIGHT(s) to align themselves with the
song honouring the birth of the Master, Jesus the Christ. There is
no org, center, officers, newsletter....just one's self and the desire
to join in this "heavenly" effort which immediately places one along
side the Company of Heaven ....Angels, Ascended Masters, White
Brotherhood, Elder Brothers, and many other higher beings who
are trying to raise humanity into higher
consciousness and responsibility for bringing balance back into this
area of the universe. As you can see ANYONE can do this. So
there is no separateness and even the name Silent Knight could be
dispensed with if that begins to occur. This Aquarian Age is
certainly heading for the harmonizing of differences into a
UNITY....ONE-NESS and the emphasising of one org or group as
being THE ONE works against such a goal

Thanks for listening....there's more but I'll sign off here

       LOVE AND FORGIVENESS .....UNCONDITIONAL!
       Dane Maniel
