Book burning was used many times in our history to prevent others from adopting different views other than the church's or main stream public. It's fear like this that keeps us tied to where we are. I for one love this movie and so do my grandchildren,imagination is wonderful to cultivate and experiment with. 1 Dec 2002 @ 16:21 by craiglang : Fear and Forgiveness Hi Marie, I couldn't agree more with what you just said. The burning of books is, at its core, the fear of the message contained in such books. And further yet, persecution becomes the ultimate experession of fear. I remember two of the finest Christian teachings: "Pray for those who persecute you" "Judge not lest you be judged" What this means to me is that while we can deplore what someone does, it is not ours to judge - their own karma will catch up with them. I see the role of a pacifist as being a light in the darkness - shining the light of truth on the darkness of fear. In the end, love triumphs over fear - but it can take a long time... 8^) Those who reject the light - well, that's their choice, but any dark actions create their own karma...
