Those of us who take Gandhi seriously with all his limitations ought not to use him for partisan purposes. Instead we should focus on imbibing in our own lives the basic principles that would show that we respect Gandhi's message and methods. Let us practice, not preach him, says Madhu Purnima Kishwar.

good to see someone who can see Gandhi with his good and his mistakes, and of course his murder. One thing that was omitted was his harsh treatment of his wife and children for many, many years. I read that eventually he changed. I'm not sure how this article relates to women's issues in particular. Martyrdom is not something to be admired, but I like his message and some methods. Would you have a comment to my latest log entry, Swanny?
