Do you like chess?
It really or kinda of a "interesting" game...
Can be stressful too and can reveal a lot about
you or your opponent by the moves they make etc.

I recently started to play against my computer
and my gosh... it was slaughtering me and I
always thought I was able to "hold my own."

So I figured I'd change my strategy...

and still...

well it turns out I'll have to change it again
cause it appears that my computer is "cheating."

I don't know if you ever went to mplayer, when it was around. It was a vibrant community that got to big for its wallet and had to morph into gamespy. Anyway, mplayer used to have a really cool chess game, that you could invite other members to play, and most of those who played were quite exceptional. The cool thing, to me about this game version, was when you knocked off the other players pieces, there were sound effects. Knock off a pawn and it would gasp in pain. Kill the queen and she would shriek. If you had your wav volume turned a little high, this could sound quite ghastly.
Anyway, as i said, most of the players wereexcellent, at least by my standards. I fail miserably at strategery, and so very, very rare was the game where i didn't get demolished in maybe five moves. One day, i invited someone to play, and i actually wiped them out in approximately five moves. I was ecstatic! I was learning how to beat the masters! So i chatted with my defeated opponent after the game, and the conversation went something like this...
Opponent: GG
me:gg I can't believe i finally won a game!
Opponent:where do you live? I'm from blahblahblah.
Me: i live in New Hampshire.
opponent: how old are you?
Me: I'm 37
Opponent:I'm twelve
Me: oh geez!
With chagrin, my virtual victory dance ended and it was a long time before i wanted to look at a chess board again.
