Really cute, compactly written link. There is so much natural wealth of attributes to be found in different materials. Once I was offered the job of setting up a fully cross referenced data base for international use in Amsterdam by a leading figure in ecology in building. I worked in component referencing systems in architecture as part of the library function. Each practice can only hope to build up expertise in a few. So, Localised building resource bases make much sense: what happens tho, is that the big guys start moving in because they want to keep their monopoly and their prices up, say for drainpipes, and they also stop anyone else from making them. But let's keep it upbeat.
