Dear Editor

Kudos to our local high school students and their latest art exhibit at the main gallery at the Red Deer Museum. A strong well founded and balanced base awaits one who appreciates artistic sensibilities. From Group of Seven to Jimmy Hendrix, to internet fantisies, a wide and highly sophisticated sample of talent is emerging. Though somewhat timid in originality the lack of the use of overworn cliches is refreshingly and noticibly absent. This bodes well for us, as it demostrates the desire to express, define, and inform and not simply sell.
A love of "true" art is thus demonstrated and not simply a "means" to an end. The joy, use and celebration of art as a valued activity and exercise of the creative process demostrates a rare maturity that I hope continues. The exhibit thus can only be described as a palette and global symphony of and to the senses. Thankyou for this artistic morsal all who contributed.

Ed Jonas
