Dewf, you're right, the general semantics principles plug right into enlightenment. Not that I'm sure Korzybski would have thought of it that way. But if we can just learn to see things as they are, or, rather, at least remain aware that there's reality beyond our shortsighted generalizations, and always seek it. Being conscious of abstraction, and there-through be willing to see what actually is there.

I love your kinda philosophical exclamation comment here above; the "Abstraction".
What keeps us stuck in this frozen (; emotional, where energy with high voltage charge freeze and thus remains stuck, without flowing back into the Sun) I believe, is, this structure we call 'Semantics' -and from that ALL procrastination has its origin-,(mostly) due to peer pressure, and this in turn does not promote Reality /seeing Reality AS it IS.
I also believe ALL people can see Reality as it is,( it is called 'conscience' and even those who we think have none, considering their repeated evil, but they too do see Reality of both their own evil actions and the Reality they are violating with those evil actions; why else would they have such a strong need to hide their evil actions -IF they truly believed their actions to be good and life supporting? ) but so many are still scared to death of the oppression that runs forth from the peer pressure; very vengeful and indeed deadly in many instances!
People choose to procrastinate, when they feel threatened to let their own creativity flow; when they feel that being just them is not OK and when they feel that what is expected from them ( on a daily basis) is just too far from their own true Nature and too far away from what they really wish for their life.
Peer pressure is "the Devil" and the root to the fraudulent monetary system as well! "Don't you dare to see Life differently than what I tell you to you to see it as!"
This twisted energy process has now gone on so long that it has taken on this form we call "general (or "sloppy") semantics" - as well as an over all tendency by us to procrastinate when we feel stuck and of course procrastination makes us even more stuck, for real, as it were!
It all boils down to individual psychology. I personally believe that best and quickest Road to Healing is whenever ONE person dares to allow their own creativity to be their guiding Star in their life. That "allows" the people around, who witness this transformation in 'me' to go and do the same thing in their life!
After all; wasn't it the fact that Buddha and Jesus et Al, dared to live on their own Inner -Ethical- terms, that made them "Enlightened" - and never "needed" to procrastinate!... Full circle! : )
Thanks for giving the stimuli and forum to clarify this for myself! I hope this also might be a window for others as well and enable many more to see through the loop of this wicked, vicious, evil circle and free themselves!

"Abstraction" is an "interesting" word in that it really stands for "Intangible" ("things") like Love, Fear, Beauty, Ugliness, Harmony, Discord etc.
It also can express even "higher" Cosmic Realities; also intangible: Distance, Time, God etc etc.
Humankind has been so wrapped into judging itself/its members
based on TANGIBLE similarities -or differences! These OUTSIDE- of-our-SKIN-things are the outer touchable things and these -we are taught- either make us similar -or different from each other! But this is NOT a Cosmic Truth at all!
The differences we have are ONLY skin deep -literally! And/or "Cultural"; dependent on mostly Physical = outer geographical differences in places for our Home-communities; Greenland vs Timbuktu, for instance.
Of course there must be differences in the life-styles between these people and in their Art and their Literature etc, based on the variables for their geophysical Locations!
Yet Beauty is beauty in both "places" it is indeed in the eye of the Beholder; INSIDE the person, be they judging something as beautiful in Greenland -or in Timbuktu. And more: Beauty is Beauty for the person in question, REGARDLESS of what others think or see or say, eh?
The BIG Question is : does this person's judgment about Beauty affect the OUTER world for the rest of Humankind? If not, then they are free to see beauty where ever they want! In other words: if the Beauty they see doesn't have a destructive quality to Itself or intentions, it should be OK for its "Mom" or "Dad" to see it that way, without having to become the target for and endure peer pressure!
So how about Evil? Is that an Inner or Outer Thing? It is indeed an Inner thing that has serious both Inner AND outer effects on ALL around it!
Double Standard ( = "evil" > Dual moral /ethical Standards ARE destructive and consequently automatically carries destruction with them.
There can never be any Double Standards without IMBALANCE > INJUSTICE; leading to Alienship; the need to see others "lesser than us", and "because of that we now can hurt them as it pleases us" ; a "freebe" to CRUELTY; in its lightest form is called 'PEER PRESSURE'.
Here below I will post an Article about how Peer pressure is running USA/Politics today -as it does in most places today, just like it has done all over the world for thousands of years and will continue- UNTIL we see that the similarities are to found INSIDE of us! They are indeed "Abstract/ions"! Yet more real than ANYTHING in Universe!
We all cry in the same language! We all feel sorrow in the same language. We all feel Joy in the same language -even when triggered by different OUTER Things! "Greenland "vs" Timbuktu, remember?)
The Peer pressure has run our world too long already. Or what do you think, when reading the article here below? Do you think there is something else running this?
The Major Control Tool for running your life the way are told to run is Fear for your life -or "you'll get "suicided" (by the BULLIES, because they are always the ones who make up the Rules that then become the Social Memes for each Society; what to follow.) MONEY!!!
The more you follow the Right OUTER Requirements for being /becoming "One of Us" the more money we'll let you have. We'll even hand it to you, just for being (of) "Right"(kind)!
With this kind of pressure, people start procrastinating; it is in so many instances the "natural" reaction to the fact that their own creativity is STIFFLED and NOT ALLOWED and NOT valued, while deception is! -and certainly not really, really profitable, like enough to build a life on! (-ahhh, here comes the deadly tool; the FRAUDULENT Money SYSTEM! )
People live a life they hate by their deepest life preserving Instincts! And rightfully so!
But we can't just go on hating and procrastinating our Life! that way we'll never live it; OUR life!

It should be clear that symptomatic relief is preferable both in terms of the immediacy of results along with the simplicity of approach. This is especially true of medical problems. But what opinion can one have of a physician who provides drugs and medication merely to alleviate the bothersome symptoms and suffering of a patient rather than frankly and honestly confronting both the problem and informing the sufferer? What can be said of such a doctor who fails to address the root cause of a patient's suffering? What else can such a physician be called but a "quack"?
Applying false cures, especially when dealing with life-threatening problems, and by the employment of a panacean approach, constitutes non-action and dangerously wastes time. This exacerbates the problem to such an extent that the outcome can prove fatal or irreversible. Applying false cures to a real problem by merely "band-aiding" it can indeed bring on a terminal condition. Clearly, the solution to any problem calls for an approach that addresses its root cause and not merely its symptoms.
Our nation is now at a critical juncture. The millionaire "nattering nabobs" of "talk radio" broadcast blather, and the lollygagging talking heads of faux TV news and commentary, are distracting US once again with the same unending inconsequential blame game bilge which translates to meaningless political labels. They are serving US up their usual heavy dosages of distraction and non-information. And even some major websites on the Internet are jumping in on the disinformation bandwagon of the mainstream "American" media system, a system designed to dumb US down in the same manner that our government school systems dumb down our children, converting US all to armies of good socialist citizen soldiers.
Partisan politics is again on the horizon, raising its ugly and false head to serve once again as a false target to distract Americans from focusing on the fact that our Bill of Rights is being paper-chased out of existence and pulverized by the real enemies of freedom: American government, its politics, and its enablers in our un-American press. Our press doesn't serve as a government "watchdog;" it serves only to distract US from the facts thereby forcing upon US new social mores defined as "political correctness," and imparting upon our society's collective behavior that which is too absurd to control via the terror of the badge and the gun. It has created, in this once-greatest nation of freedom, a citizenry characterized by a self-hatred on the part of every man, woman and child. We are being propagandized to hate ourselves for our wealth and freedoms, and then told to blame some far away, impoverished nation that poses absolutely no threat to US, and never has, and to believe that it is their fault that we have lost our nation's greatest assets.
Fraud, falsehoods, lies, terror, secrecy and espionage against a nation's citizens by its own government are the unmistakable attributes of a totalitarian regime. Such regimes must supplant truth and fact with their opposites and prop up its legitimacy with the propaganda loyally provided by a treasonous media aggressively supported by its nattering nabobs of blather. We have been made to accept the unacceptable. We have been taught to reject that which was formerly so readily rejected.
Where in the Declaration of Independence, or the Articles of Confederation, or the Constitution of the United States, or in its Bill of Rights, or even in the American Code of Military Justice, is it acceptable to torture prisoners? Where in any of these Founding and regulatory parameters is it legal to kidnap both foreign citizens and even those of our own nation, and then to hold them captive without stating the charges against them? When are these actions supported by laws dependent upon the justice articulated as our first priority as established in the Constitution in its Preamble?
Is it "American" to write "hate crimes" laws in violation of the First Amendment to silence those our government wishes to silence?
Is it "American" to write "lobby laws" to silence critics of our government's newly-acquired paranoia thereby justifying authoritarian and totalitarian solutions?
Is it "American" or "Mirandan" not to allow a prisoner to make at least one phone call, or to consult a lawyer, or to ask for a statement of charges, or to inquire as to probable cause, or to even ask for a speedy trial by peers relating to the charges government has brought against one?
Is it "American" to allow "free speech" zones within concertina razor wire-confined areas patrolled by "police" with machine-guns?
Is it "American" to allow one individual to "decide" for 300 million Americans to "sacrifice" US and our children into one war after another without bothering to consult Congress or the American people?
Is it "American" to attack other nations that have not attacked US?
Is it beyond any modicum of doubt that such a government would also easily plan and carry out a manufactured terrorist event and kill its own people in order to posture itself for such total control over its citizens?
Our government is not our government it now serves as our "legitimate" slave masters, reserving for itself the right to steal our children, our land, our wealth and our means of livelihood. It has stolen from US all the things that once made our nation a great people, governed by a system that was of, by and for those people. It has postured itself, without our approval, to relieve US of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.
There is now no branch of American government that represents or defends the will of the people. The last opinion poll conducted showed that the president's approval rating is only at 26 percent. And that percentage of the people's approval rating is higher than that of Congress. Our government isn't even sanctioned by a simple majority! Political labels are a distraction. Democrats have won a landslide mandate to bring about the much-needed changes to save our nation, but are already showing signs of doing absolutely nothing to save what pathetically little is left of our Founding.
Democrats initiate and then stand firmly behind legislation proposed to silence criticism of American government via "lobbying" and "hate crimes" laws, the latter contrived to protect the un-American cabal that lobbies and finances Congress, while at the same time, passing "resolutions" against our dictator's warmongering that neither constitutes law nor serves as any legal deterrent. These "laws" protect the tiny minority that is government, as well as the tiny minority that rules over that tiny minority.
As American government summarily dismisses the United States Constitution, seeking to unravel it for its own interests and for those who financially support and handsomely reward it, doing so via federal statutes and dictatorial fiats as opposed to Amendments to the Constitution as prescribed by that rule of law of our land, it has made itself an entity outside the Constitution's protections and sanctions. America is now ruled by a dictator, supported by two other branches of government united singularly under that one and same illegitimate dictator. The United States is a nuclear-armed rogue nation with no discernible citizen-approved mandate of legitimacy, nor a legislative body answerable to either its own citizens or those of the entire world-at-large.

I believe this caused by people who have been given in the first place, in historical time, a type of adversarial law. This allows for any kind of person to make any, absolutely any kind of statement, completely outside the bounds of anyone's remotest idea of Justice, to get their own way. In the adversarial system lawyers laugh all the way to the bank: someone comes to them with the most crackpot statements, and the lawyer far from telling them that this is all outside any known consideration of justice or religion, thinks this will surely bring in the lawsuits, goody goody. In other words this law system is for Brigands, outlaws that used to live in mountains, controlling their own families in the same methods, heaven help if you are girl.
This comes about from a sense of preservation on behalf of the perpetrator who has probably been living a double life of relatively high risk and ENJOYED it, so they continue to do so, it is thrilling, a form of energy, giving power in their small world. In order to maintain this, they must at all costs, prevent the truth from emerging. And so the cycle continues, of counter intelligence, pressure, and finally recourse onto the soft bed of the so called adversarial legal system, the West's basis of arbitration. Even the word law has lost its meaning for people who enjoy a memory span longer than 1 or two legal years.

PS: note how interesting people here find the topics of Peer Pressure, just like the topics of Bully behaviour: NO attention/comments at all -regardless of who writes about the subject!... In other words: it is the subject matter that is the Holy Cow here and is NOT to chased away!
Over all Matters that need to be healed in our Society/Consciousness do NOT attract many people to read & respond. SO many good people here have had that sad experience -to the point that they chose to leave, go somewhere else where people had a zest for Life!...

"home of the free and land of the brave." We've been through cycles of greed, fear and war mongering before, and I'm sure that those of us who spend our time here want to see dramatic changes, especially politically. At least we are seeing less power in the hands and minds of the religious zealots in this country. I wonder if these "born again" types realize that they are a major part of the problem and far from any solution to our demise or global reputation and destruction.
Like you, it is sad to see some of our very brightest members, with big hearts, leave NCN and probably because they weren't getting any comments on their articles. You have been very thoughtful and generous with your comments and we have much to learn from them. Thanks....

levels of our Society are tightening the screws -as it were. This is their last effort to try to win back the territory they've lost -instead of choosing to heal (themselves) and gain the whole Universe, they opt for a destroyed Planet, a few brainwashed slaves -and then WHAT???...Do these people -EVER- dare to extrapulate/ discern the consequences to any of their planned actions?!???... Doesn't seem like it.
I just think we'd better do what Jesus did when He was faced with these kind of situations: He left! He didn't stand there butting His Head against the wall of their lies, hoping to make them crumble. He simply walked away. And He told us to "follow me/Him/" ; His model of behaviour at any given moment. Only because people THINK that he died 'just like everybody else before Him' they stopped giving validity to His Teachings -other than to the ones that could support a Good Life In Heaven AFTER Death.TOTALLY WRONG conception. 10000% wrong!
We are ALL Spiritual, indeed COSMIC Beings having a HUMAN Experience and we need to act like such. The first thing to acknowledge is that the death-concept is PURELY human /man-made and FORCED UPON Nature as well. When Darwin arrived to the Galapagos Islands; then the most remote Place on Earth, he couldn't find any proof of animals having ever died there and of all the animals he found there all the "old" ones were VERY old!... indeed he couldn't judge their age at all! Do you learn this about his adventures there ( only less than three months )
Jesus did NOT remain dead more than three days, like He had said over and over again He would and then He would take back, his PHYSICAL Body, which He did! But that can only be done once one has mastered all the consciousness levels in this 3D World ( or Octave, which so many bullies here on NCN dispice!... )
We know so very little about Life, so it ain't even funny. Most scientists willingly admit that no one (of them today) understands the NATURE of Water, let alone any more complicated life-combos. But if Reader's Digest is a person's only source to "science" then one would think we Humans created Not only God "Himself" but also Universe and all what's in It! And there are those arrogant life destroyers here on NCN as well, making life miserable for the rest of us!
Just this past week two wonderful guys (men) from NCN quit. (I talked with both of them, one on the phone, the other through e-mail). And then there 's several wonderful Souls, who just won't join in any interaction, cos they don't want to become targets to all the bullies here!
I was thinking of you, Jerry, that how can I walk out from NCN and leave you... until I realized that we can do what I do with other good friends on and from NCN: stay in touch privately with you. I will make sure you have my e-mail and my phone nr and feel free to contact me any time, with "important stuff", be it Light Hearted or Serious, all welcome! : )

Astrid. I have gotten beyond expectations here as I have started a new blog as you know and hardly anyone interacts on that one as well. As I participate here I know that we share an experience and a time in history that allows us to get engaged in an interesting dialogue and experience.
So, friend, do take care as I know you will. Perhaps we all just fill our level and complete an experience...you know, beginning, middle and end to this game. Best wishes for new adventures that offer much more joy and happiness. Goodbye for now.
