The Buddha

Actually as I recall ...
The Buddha taught that the reality of the world is suffering.
And the way to enlightenment is the elimination of desires.

How does attraction fit in then.
Attraction presupposes a desire whether conscious or unconscious.
To eliminate desires thus is to hence eliminate attractions either positive or negative, thus to percieve not reality persae but truth which is the essence of enlightment.

Now he may have meant the reality of "humanity" and not the world
was suffering, this isn't altogether clear yet in say way he
was speaking as a human from a human all be it enlightened human
perspective.
