ISO is the source of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families of quality and environmental management standards adopted in over 150 countries. ISO 14001 certification, an integral part of the ISO 14000 series of global environment standards, recognizes a company's adoption and practice of an effective Environmental Policy. Certification is granted for three years and is annually audited by an independent body. Although ISO 14001 certification is voluntary, it is a requirement for Meggitt group companies. Wilcoxon's certification is in line with Meggitt PLC's corporate philosophy towards environment protection. Strict environmental standards are applied to Meggitt operations worldwide and guide the entire organization's environmental behavior. 23 Apr 2007 @ 20:42 by swanny : ISO 14000 ISO 14000 EcoStandards Source = http://www.iso.org/iso/en/commcentre/pressreleases/2006/Ref994.html 24 Apr 2007 @ 00:24 by swanny : ???? This is a good start to open our eyes and hearts to caring about the planet large and small but what does that mean approx or exactly and... specifically and generally? We need to have a standard meaning for what that caring would be and mean in an effective and sustainable way. Okay I admit the ISO 14000 is a bit techno jargin but if we could perhaps rewrite in a user friendly manner by working to a global standard we could have a "coordinated" effort. Sure it could be voluntary or manditory that doesn't so much matter but what matters is that it would be and have a global meaning because it is a global mininum standard for all if it was written and presented in a way that all could understand. Now I guess I don't like keep up with the jones as much as the next guy but if were all working from a different blueprint or meaning all we'll end up with is another tower of Babel. I give you the example of standard time. Now can you imagine what it was like when there was no standard time? Jimmys watch said it was 2:30 and Joes watch said it was 4:10 and no common ground. Standards thus are a necessary burden thus but they can help to mitigate the confusion and ensure a level and "green" playing field. Now if someone would like to undertake the task of converting the ISO 1400 into plain language that would certainly help us simple folk like me understand what it is I need to do and abide by and what it means to help out the planet in a global and realistic way on an individual basis. ed Other entries in Articles 23 Aug 2022 @ 09:55: Gravity battery ref 23 Aug 2022 @ 09:53: Gravity battery ???. 2 May 2022 @ 06:45: How to Get Quality Dofollow Backlinks 23 Nov 2021 @ 18:26: What is Linkbuilding 25 Jun 2021 @ 15:37: Longitude at sea? 24 Aug 2020 @ 12:42: Climate and ocean 24 Aug 2020 @ 12:37: Climate update Aug 2020 15 Mar 2020 @ 19:11: Hang in.. 29 Jul 2019 @ 16:12: Onward 28 Feb 2019 @ 14:41: Solar Neighborhood pic
