Xanadu 2012: Happy 140th Canada |

The moon hung strong and low in the South West sky... shining for all purposes light a giant spotlight on the country of my birth. Well whats it going to be. Another drunken party like so many times before on this day or? What was Canada Day anyway. A birthday party I suppose I thought. But to a celebration of all things Canadian. Good and bad I suppose. Canada was a sort of decent country after all. All things considered and yet what was it? What was the quintessential Canada. Complex yes Canada is perhaps at heart quite complex. A Mosaic as some had said. A tapestry of cultures and values and yet? Who had said it best? I suppose the Land says it best. A land that is perhaps in danger of erosion of its voice to the machinery of industry and civilization. If we lose the Land I thought then we will be losing Canada losing ourselves losing our identity. We must share the land with the land then and those that live with it and for it. any way what have I said...? happy day Canada... its the dawn of a new day and we will celebrate your enigma. Huge in area from sea to sea and free. It is not my birth country, but as a teenager I have chosen it.....like a marriage partner and I am still in awe, 40 years later. I love to see all Canadians celebrate today and not to take it for granted but set some time aside for gratitude, for EVERYTHING that makes up Canada. Happy Birthday to you.....
