hmmm I just did the math looks bad
if you took the 600000000 million cars on the planet and built them all as one vehicle
just the diameter of the exhaust pipe would be 18,000 miles wide.....
that can't be right can it? I better double check that....
thats scary.....

dart it came out as 19000 miles
i think were in trouble folks

I dont know I must be making a miscalculation somewhere here
because thats greater than the diameter of the earth which is about 8000 miles so its not likely to be
true but give or take 10000 miles then of my original calculation your looking at a minimun size of say half
the diameter of the earth as the diameter of this global cars exhaust pipe. And if thats even remotely the case then no wonder we have global warming. Itd be a no brainer even. So given that hypothetical senario I say its time for the car drivers of the world to go on a 5 year carbon strike like I did 4 years ago and not drive a car for 5 years minimum.

Perspective

To put this in some kind of reasonable normal everyday perspective which I question whether it is or can be
because it just does not seem to fathom or seem reasonable that if true we would be so blind to it and have missed the such obviousness but anyway you end up with a car thats roughly 50 times the size of the earth. Mind you this car doesn't run all the time granted... so even if it only ran 25% of the time you can get a sense or scope as to what the planet is and has been having to endure and ? to maintain some kind of global climate equilbrium and that its been having to do such cumulatively and increasingly for the last one hundred years. I certainly am somewhat in doubt of my calculations at this point and would appreciate some independent assertion and verification of my what appears to be somewhat questionable assumptions and data and perhaps my method and hypothesis is inadequate or invalid so I urge you or demand and perhaps beg you to prove it wrong or false or wanting.

Well thanks to a friend we have determined the proper area
and thankfully it is a lot less.
Together we calculated that the true circumference of the global cars exhaust pipe would be just under a square mile.
Well thats a relief I suppose although still somewhat distrubing
anyway there you have it and a square mile is about well pretty big.
Anyway thanks for your indulgence.

18 Jun 2009 @ 09:27 by swanny @70.65.104.43 : Total
The total concentrated size thus of this theoretical exhaust pipe if we were to extrapolate it to include all sources of human greenhouse gas emission production would be roughly more than 7 square miles or seven sections of land or the size of a small town or city which would be somewhat visible from space.

18 Jun 2009 @ 10:23 by swanny @70.65.104.43 : Denmark
And thats just the area of the exhaust pipe. To park the rest of this theoretical monster of a beast you'd need a parking lot more than the size of the city of Los Angelos Id guess itd be about 21000 square miles or about twice the size of Denmark if you continue to scale the situation. It gets a bit boggling at this point and math was never my forte so well suffice to say is this a very thought out process humanity has gotten itself into?
Oh well moving on.... nice to have the rain things were lookin a bit dry here for a spell and very cool spring it seems but spring none the less.

Jeporady

So then if you extrapolate and take all of the human produced sources of greenhouse gases on Earth on a relative scale humanity has theoretically or constructively built a car roughly the size of Denmark, which in one sense is rather an achievement but in the other a rather mindless and arrogant one as by doing so we have exceeded the Earths biocapacity by approximately 30 % and placed the planet and biosphere in jeopardy and decline.

18 Jun 2009 @ 18:22 by a-d : "roughly the size of Denmark"!....
...that's sounds far too small! If you were to put ALL the cars together....that includes I think all the Semi-trucks/"Eighteen Wheelers" !... 64 feet long, --at least-- each & everyone.... and what about all the war-machines; the TANKS???

...but one thing is for sure: we ARE in TROUBLE!.... IF we don't hit the brakes --like-- right now!....

18 Jun 2009 @ 21:17 by swanny @70.65.104.43 : Yup
Hi AD yup thats what my data came up with
It may be a little smaller or bigger but will serve as a fair starting point
perhaps to get a scope or real handle on the nature of the beast.
Shes a bigger shucker alright I figure and though Ive never been to Denmark
youd be able to see this puppy from space and think of the fuel consumption
anyway thanks for your comment and spread the word.

That was very hard to do and come up with.

20 Jun 2009 @ 08:43 by swanny @70.65.104.43 : Denial
Okay lets put all this in some kind of perspective....
Denying that a car the size of Denmark would not contribute to global warming
or have a negative impact on the planet as a whole is equvilanent effective and as useful towards such as denying that your house is on fire. Denying that your house is on fire when it is doesn't do much about the fire. Hmm do you smell smoke?
