re: earths twin 25 oct 2012 6:00 am mdt
well i've been pondering for some years on it and now my conclusion is that even if we find a planet with water and the size of earth.and a sun and right distance.. it still probably wouldn't have earth like life if it didn't have a earth like "moon"... the secret to life on earth thus is the moon.... the moon which with its gravitational pull sets the tides in motion and creates a temporal rhythm thus and motion is life....and the oceans thus being the mother of life.....so even though there may be 1 billion exoplanets in our galaxy.... we should, if wanting to find our twin....find the ones with water and moons ....which probably cuts the chances to a million times of finding one but narrows the search field.... that isn't to say that humans and earth life couldn't live on other planets....they could probably with some physiological adaption and adjustments and psychological as well but its just saying to find other earth like life we'll be needing a moon.
