One for the road... so to speak...
Old Man Winter
by Marissa A Spencer
That murky, cold, clammy thing called winter
Keeps me griping and gripping the coverlet
Go ahead and freeze me Old Man
See if I don't shake my mind at you
Silent, and curling up tighter, I sleep
The warmth of my inner being burns
My second eyes see the flaming clouds
Travel, swift to those warm horizons!
A gaze behind sees the cold billows blowing
Silent, I must move faster now
Where's my Springtime when it's needed?
Are there seasons of that kind here?
Perhaps only seasons of the heart and soul
Break those chains that weigh me down
Silent, now I am forever invisibly present
Ha! I see you Old Man, looking for me
Will you never learn I am Springtime
The green rivers of light follow me
Flashes, dashes, through the moonbeams
Silent, smiling, sighing, I am home
